The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed international free-agent defensive lineman A.C. Leonard to a one-year contract.

Leonard (6’2 – 250) returns to the Riders for his second stint after spending the 2016 and 2017 seasons in Saskatchewan.

Last season, Leonard started 17 regular-season games for the Ottawa Redblacks after signing with the team as a free agent in February, 2018. The 27-year-old Tennessee State product collected career-highs with 50 defensive tackles and six quarterback sacks on his way to being named an East Division All-Star.

Leonard entered the CFL in 2016 with the B.C. Lions spending time at receiver.

Good signing as long as we didn't pay top dollar, and as long as Shivers can straighten out his head, but Shivers knows him so obviously he believes he can. If he has his head screwed on right and is playing well he could make our front 4 absolutely devastating. He can slot into the role Antigha was in last year as well. He has that kind of athleticism as an ex-TE.

They sure could use him at reciever. Mr Jones made him a DL CFL Allstar but put him back at his natural reciever position Mr Dickerson.

First Jones didn't want him, then Ottawa had already said they weren't looking at re-signing him. Devastating is an odd word to associate with Leonard's impact. He was on the East All-Star team last year so he's been good. We have to hope Hughes has another year in him. Ran out of gas the last 3rd of the season - 2 sacks last 7 games & did nothing in the playoffs. At 35 nothing's guaranteed. Johnson will help Evans tremendously who was ordinary last year - 1 sack, way down the list in pressures. You need to do better than that. Micah wil take on the double teams & give Evans a lot of room.

Well to be versatile to play both defense line as a rotation guy.
& on offense as part of TE packages.
Pat Lavoi is a Canadian who is listed as a rec. But really is a TE in the CFL.
going agsinst the trend of 5 rec/sB. With the CFL now begining to change the term of SAM LB to Cover LB. Which really are DBs.
Using a bigger stronger TE. could be a way to get ahead of the current trend to a furure trend.
As teams eill jave to learn to adjust wat typ of guy plays tha SAM/Cover LB position
