Men’s Hockey – After opening the second half of the Canada West schedule with a pair of road losses to Lethbridge last weekend, the Cougars (3-14-1) will now play five of their next six games at home. This Friday night, they’ll host the No. 3-ranked Saskatchewan Huskies for a 7:00 puck drop at The Co-operators Centre. The two teams will finish off the weekend series with a game on Saturday night in Saskatoon which will also face off at 7:00.
(Special note: Friday’s game at The Co-operators Centre will feature a very limited number of special edition 22Fresh toques for sale in support of the Shine On Foundation)

Women’s Hockey – The Cougars (7-7-1-3) split their home weekend with Lethbridge to open the 2019 calendar year, getting edged 1-0 by the Pronghorns on Friday but getting a three-point effort by Jaycee Magwood in a 3-2 victory on Saturday. The Cougars continue Canada West play with a home-and-home against No. 10-ranked Saskatchewan this weekend, as they’ll play the Huskies on the road on Friday before the two teams meet in Regina at The Co-operators Centre on Saturday night (7:00). The Cougars head into the weekend lurking just four points behind Saskatchewan for fourth place in the conference standings.

Women's Basketball (U SPORTS Ranking: No. 10) – One week after winning the Wesmen Classic non-conference in Winnipeg, the Cougars (9-3) resumed Canada West play last weekend with a pair of road games at Victoria. They had a huge second half en route to an 85-50 win over the Vikes on Friday, but Victoria got a bucket at the buzzer to come away with a 70-69 victory over the Cougars on Saturday and snap the U of R’s string of seven consecutive conference games won. The Cougars are back in Regina this weekend for their first home games of the 2019 calendar year, as they’ll host UBC Okanagan (0-14) on Friday and Saturday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport. Both games will tip off at 6:00.

Men’s Basketball – The Cougars (8-4) got a game-winning three-pointer by Benjamin Hillis as time expired to take an 82-79 road win over Victoria on Friday, but couldn’t replicate that magic on Saturday. Down 83-80, the Cougars had a pair of chances to tie it on the final possession but couldn’t get either triple to fall as they’d have to settle for the weekend split. The Cougars return to the CKHS this Friday and Saturday to host UBC Okanagan (5-9) starting at 8:00 both nights.

Women’s Volleyball – Buoyed by a scintillating performance by third-year setter Satomi Togawa, the Cougars (6-8) toppled No. 4-ranked Alberta in a five-set thriller on Friday at the CKHS. Togawa not only had 46 assists, but set a school record for digs in a match by a setter after registering 27 of them in the victory. The Cougars, who settled for a weekend split after a loss to the Pandas the following night, will make the quick trip north for a pair of road matches at Saskatchewan (6-8) this Friday and Saturday. Both teams are currently embroiled in a four-way tie for seventh place in the conference standings.

Track & Field – After a month away from competition, the Cougars return to action this Friday and Saturday at the Sled Dog Meet in Saskatoon. This meet marks the first of two consecutive weekends that the Cougars will have the full team competing, as they’ll also participate in the Golden Bear Open in Edmonton on Jan. 18 and Jan. 19.
