Moose Jaw Warriors Head Coach Tim Hunter has been named Head Coach of Canada’s National Junior Team for the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships.  With the announcement Hunter becomes the first Warriors Head Coach to achieve this accomplishment and is the first Head Coach from the East Division to have this role since Terry Simpson (Prince Albert) in 1986.

“This is a very special day for our hockey club with Tim Hunter being named Head Coach of Canada’s National Junior Team,” said Warriors General Manager Alan Millar.  “On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, players, and fans, I’d like to congratulate Tim on this special recognition.”

“Tim earned this opportunity with his great work here in Moose Jaw.  We’re excited to watch him lead Canada in Vancouver and Victoria this Christmas,” added Millar.

Hunter is entering his fifth season as Head Coach of the Warriors, last season he led the team to a regular season record of 52-15-2-3, they captured the franchise’s first Scott Munro Memorial Trophy as the regular season champions and won their fourth East Division title.
Hunter has been Head Coach for the Warriors since 2014 and in 265 games on the bench he has a record of 145-94-19-5.  He ranks 1st on the franchise’s all-time win list and is 3rd all-time in games coached.
