With struggles in their secondary, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Matt Elam, a former NFL first round pick of the Baltimore Ravens.

Elam played college football with the Florida Gators before spending four seasons with the Ravens.

Here is his Wikipedia bio:

The Roughriders fell 23-17 at home to Montreal on Saturday, a game in which Alouettes receiver Chris Williams victimized Rider CB Duron Carter for 130 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown.

The Riders are back at practice on Monday with an open practice. Saskatchewan hosts Hamilton on Thursday at 7:00 pm in Week 4 CFL action.

There will be a holiday Monday SportsCage today at 4:00 pm.

This 26 year old DB could be a real find. I remember him in his Rookie year. He was making people take notice. His play in his Sophomore year seemed to regress. I don’t know much after that. I do remember he was injured and then later was caught with pain killers. Sad but understandable. I really hope for this young man that he takes his second chance and once again makes fans take notice. He will be 27 in Sept so he's in his physical prime. Let’s hope his mind is there as well
At 5’10” and 208lbs. Receivers will feel him when he lays out a good clean hit. i sure hope he’s in game shape as he didn’t play last year. I’m tjinking he staid in shape waiting for a call from somewhere.
Probably only heard of the Saskatchewan Roughriders for the 1st time last year. When Vince Carter attended camp. As unfortunate as Vince’s situation turned out. Between Vince and now Johnny football. More players will take up an offer when a CFL team is calling. Which wasn’t always the case in the past.
