JONES DISCUSSES QBS ON TUESDAY

The Saskatchewan Roughriders held Day 2 of their work week on Tuesday at Mosaic Stadium. The club is preparing for Friday's season-opener against the Toronto Argonauts in Regina (7:00 pm, TSN, ESPN2, 620 CKRM Radio Network).

After the workout, Jones addressed his quarterback situation for Week 1. On Monday, Jones said he doesn't plan to name his starting pivot until later in the week.

"I've known for two weeks how we're going to play," Jones revealed. "But I ain't telling y'all till we get ready to play. Why would I give something like that up to our opponent, where they know exactly what we're going to do? It doesn't make good sense, right?

"I know how we're gonna play, our quarterbacks know how we're gonna play, and you'll find out when we play the game exactly how they'll play."

Jones was asked if he will name the starter on Thursday when the club declares its roster for Friday's game.

"Why do we have to?" Jones questioned. "I don't understand why that's such big deal. I told them this morning, I talked to the QBs, and it's not that big a deal to me. I treat them just like I do anybody else. They know exactly how we're gonna play and they know what we have to do to win football games. They've both been playing for a long time so that's just the way we're going to do it.

"You don't know our defensive rotation either. So, I'm not going to let you know that either."

Meanwhile receiver Duron Carter says he was satisfied with his ranking in TSN's CFL Top 50 players which was released Tuesday morning. Carter was the top-ranked Roughrider at #8 followed by Willie Jefferson (10), Charleston Hughes (13), Ed Gainey (15), Naaman Roosevelt (25), Jerome Messam (29) and Brendon Labatte (33). Although Carter says he won't be satisfied until the Top 5 are comprised of all Roughriders.

As for Friday's game, Carter says they've been looking forward to Week 1 for quite some time.

"Definitely," said the flamboyant receiver. "Everybody's ready to kick it up a notch. This is my 5th, 6th year of being a professional. You kind of go through the motions in camp and preseason but when it comes to the first game, you have to be ready to play."

Wednesday's Day 3 workout will be closed to the public and media.

This topic came up last season. The main reason Bridge had so much success last year was because the opposition wasn't ready for him. The media is paid to ask the question but I'm with Jones; keep the other teams guessing.

Sleeping on Naaman at 25. Seriously?

This QB talk is all blown up by the media! Fans don't really care as long as they play good and win.
Stop blowing it completely out of proportion!
Back years ago, we never knew whether it would be Barnes or Hufnagel or Lemmerman or Wilkinson or even if Jackie Parker was even going to play QB in the game.
Give it a break. All you want to do is criticize the coach. If you think he is wrong and you are so smart quit your job sitting on your ass and become a coach!!!!!

I'm more interested in the defensive rotation and who the two scratches may be. The qbs are easy, one of two.

Saskatchewan could have obtained qb Ricky Ray a few years back, sadly hop son, ta man, od ay, b of d's wanted to continue with the mediocre player throwing the ball setting the franchise back a decade. Good thing Renolds hired super football extroidinaire Mr Everything Chris Jones as HC/GM. along with John Murphy.

He's so much smarter than any other coach in the league. It just isn't fair.

Glad no nonsense sheriff Chris Jones is in charge, he sure knows how to put the pansy media and anyone else with their stupid inquiries in their place.

I'm no Marc Trestman and it's obvious to anyone that Collaros is starting with a short leash. I'd prepare for both qbs. How is Marc Trestman going to be fooled or unprepared? In what universe does anyone hear Trestman saying in a post game conference, they caught us off guard. We never expected to see Bridge play.
Andre Proulx probably knows Collaros is starting.

Andre
Andre
Andre Proulx
Yeah Andre!

Andre has his penalty flag ready at the thurchy tree yard line 2018. Beware Andre, he's the best at what he does.

Chris Jones is fooling nobody as everybody in the CFL knows that Collaros is starting not sure why he is playing these games ,the ONLY way Zack doesn't start is if he is injured from that nasty hit he took last game .

OK. The Proulx jokes are funny.

Thank you.
