The Montreal Alouettes announced on Tuesday that all-star linebacker Chip Cox will return with the Alouettes in 2018. Cox agreed to a one-year contract will play a 12th season with the Alouettes.

Cox won two Grey Cups with the Alouettes in 2009 and 2010. He was the CFL's Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2013 and was elected a CFL All-Star in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013. He was also named an East Division All-Star six times: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014. The Columbus, OH native is the team's all-time career leader with 901 defensive tackles.

"Chip is one of our leaders on defence," said General Manager Kavis Reed. "Over the years, he's won individual awards all while being part of championship teams. That experience is a great asset for our team. We know that Chip will be a true mentor for younger players."

In 2017, Cox started 15 games with the team making 67 defensive tackles, adding one on special teams, while knocking down four passes.
