Due to the uncertainty on the Rider O line I would put Saskatchewan as #3.
There's a guy who's got his head on straight. Those rankings make sense, although I would reverse Hamilton & Toronto. The Eskimos have the best QB in the league, had the top offence, top passing attack & second best rushing attack. They're stacked at RB, deep receivers & have a young, big OL which ranked 1st last year. On defence they gave up the 3rd least yards despite playing much of the season without 2 of their top LB's & 4 of their starting DB's. Saskatchewan looks like a good fit for 2nd if they can get their OL straightened out. Otherwise, we got problems. Calgary is going to be very good again but the RB situation is a concern. Wpg did nothing to address their defence which gives up way too much yardage & lost Westerman. BC lost Cummings which hurts their DL & a bunch of starters at DB. Ottawa is overrated by everyone. Great offence, maybe the worst DL in the league & problems at LB. Good job Mike.
Without some comments to back it up this is little more than a dump of team names.
I’d be interested to know how the defending champs dropped so far when outside the loss of Chamblin they are basically the same team but with a in improved option at backup QB.
1) Calgary will be top dog until dethroned 2) Edm - SK - Wpg... all equally upgraded. 3) Toronto better than Ott and Ham 4) Ott - Ham both ready at same level 5) BC - Jennings is not a top tier QB 6) Mon - A team with no identity or QB
It is the CFL. 9 teams. 6 of 9 make the playoffs. You can be seemingly done like dinner and have a losing record by the mid point of the season and yet qualify for the playoffs, get hot at the right time, and have a decent shot at winning the Grey Cup, which is understandably not a best of seven series, and is a winner take all on any given Sunday scenario (the championship game often played in snow and the cold). So, other than Montreal, I would say it it is fair game for everyone else. I enjoy the game and the entire season, but talk to me in September and we can better assess at that time who are the contenders and the pretenders.
Riders number 1 cause Canadian depth greatly improved and Hughes finishes the dressing room. Bombers are ripe but at 2 cause HC not like Jones. Mike unproven but team disappointed and will be motivated this year. Most dangerous team in the CFL for sure. EVIL Empire can only ride a superstar QB so long. Fade in the stretch. Calgary navel gazing. All the kings horses and all the kings men syndrome. Lions or tigers. Wally or ed. Dynasties crumble finally and an old D and mysteriously performing QB are signs too obvious to ignore. East is the deservedly disgusting Argos and corrupt Ottawa colors team. Hughes boy is a chip off the old block. A management QB with some good D can subdue the Mast Motivator Mark and Methuselah at QB. The rest are swimming away from shore for now although the QB Cat is special. They could be the wild card. You read it here first. The Abou Shadow or more like in the shadow lol
Evil Empire can only ride a star Qb so far...the running backs are both better then Messam and receivers in talent are very close. One of the best O-lines in the league and the D is looking very good...give me some weak points of the Esks Jack.
Hey jack the riders have a questionable O-line,they lots all their starting linebackers ,an very average defensive backfield, they have a starting QB who has lost 12 straight games and hasn't been the same since 2015 and lost his starting job with the lowly tigercats last year ,the ride s will be lucky to get out of the basement this year as all of the other west teams have improved.

I don't put any stock into power rankings till about week 5 or 6 of the season. Games are played on the field, not how the roster looks on paper.
