Not much decided yet as far as match-ups. Still 3 or 4 games per Team to go.

Other than Warriors and Broncos have # 1 & #2 spots nailed down. Warriors would have to lose all 3 and Broncos win all 3 for Broncs to get 1st. Wheaties can still catch Pats and Raiders can catch Wheaties.

Pats and Broncos could play 9 games in a row against each other if they match-up and go 7 games in the playoffs. Talk about a hatred if that happens :))

Go Pats!

I agree William that there is still spots to be decided.
Moose Jaw just needs one win to clinch first. The Pats are not locked into 3rd by any means. Brandon could still overtake the Pats.
This playoff structure is horrible. The Pats reward for finishing 3rd in the division is they get to play a team with over 100 points while the power house Red Deer Rebels get third and get to play Lethbridge, while Saskatoon who has more points that Red Deer does not get in.
I like the 1 to 8 match ups way better.
If playoffs started today they would be

moose jaw vs saskatoon
brandon vs medicine hat
(both winners play each other)

regina vs prince albert
swift current vs lethbridge
(both winners play each other)

This way if all the favorites win then your 1st place team and 2nd place teams cant meet until the final. Not possibly in the second round.

Brandon plays Moose Jaw in a home and home for their last two games of season. Good luck on Brandon over taking Pats for 3rd place. Face it Pats fans, it's Swift Current first round vs Pats and it won't be pretty. But at least Pats will get 7-8 weeks off rest for Memorial cup. Out of Province guys (most of entire Pats team) can just head to their respective homes for a month.

Yea you are likely right Last Anon about Wheaties not catching the Pats, but it's played on ice so you never know.

Interesting play-off match-up would be Warriors playing Raiders - MJ won the 1st 4 games but PA has won the last 3 games (after trade deadline) with 1 more game this Tuesday. Hmmm....upset in the making?

Swift Current, when in Brandon this past Friday night, played much the same as Moose Jaw did against the Wheat Kings the week before; yes, Brandon has been playing better of late, but both teams came to the rink on the road and took the opponent for granted without putting in a full effort. Hunter pulled Wilm early in the game after he let in a couple of shaky ones, and Viveros should have done the same as Skinner was awful. On D, both teams looked fine but there were some asleep at the wheel moments, meaning breakaways and 3 on 1's, which demonstrated perhaps a lack of intensity which at this time of year is a concern. Up front, both teams' forward units were dominant at times and carried the play for stretchs, but for one problem; too many passes and attempts at fancy plays versus getting the puck on goal and then driving the net for rebounds. Both teams are excellent but it goes to show you that a great team can lose sometime. A hot goalie and a subpar performance by the goalies on the Warriors or Broncos may make it very interesting when the playoffs start. Or not. There is usually one upset in the first round annually. I could see the Wheat Kings beating the Hat, if that is who they play, because PA may catch them, in which case I doubt Brandon could win 4 against either Moose Jaw or Swift Current unless of course Logan Thompson stopped 45 to 50 shots a night. Regina may topple whomever they play if their play of late is an indication, but goaltending will be a huge fa for for them. Given their start to the year and despite the additions made at the trade deadline, Regina getting to the second round could be viewed as an upset, if they were to overcome the Warriors or Broncos.

Anon before William - I would not be to sure about that. If Moose Jaw wins Tuesday night against PA they would clinch first overall. I think they will then rest a lot of their stars for the home and home with Brandon, Especially in the last game in Brandon. The same might happen with Swift Current with their home and home with Regina. It could be very interesting.

To Westernmanitobariders - good comments. You obviously know hockey and I like the fact you do not just put down other teams all the time.
I also wonder where the guy before the deadline who said Regina should trade Steel because he was not playing like he should and is not a leader. Have not heard much from him lately.
Looking forward to some playoff hockey even though I still think the format is horrible and should be the 1 to 8 mentioned above.
