Hey Morgan, are your Pats still 'ready' for the Memorial Cup? Because they are back in the loss column - again.

Geez what a bountiful weekend, or should one say..weak—end.
All weaker teams that have traded away most of their best talent and we go 1-1-0-1. 3 points out of 6
That has mediocre dripping all over that. Paddock looks helpless to deal with this hot mess.
They are not going to tank again and then miraculously become world beaters when playoffs start.
There is reason to believe they could miss post season with their tough schedule.
That's OK with the loser faction I guess. The hard core fans don't want to see anything but success.
Nothing last year and this one doesn't look good either. The next few won't be great most likely.
Oh well everybody got extensions for their efforts.

Oh how the trolls love to show up after a loss... how are those sour grapes tasting Andrew?

Moose Jaw is gonna crush us again Wednesday as much as I HATE to say it the warriors are definitely the class of the whole WHL this year,It will be a Moose Jaw and Soo Memorial Cup final

What sour grapes are you talking about Morgan? My team won all three of their games on the weekend. You are the one who started the 'ready for the Memorial Cup' narrative; and now you are avoiding the subject?

people don't get it the pats are already in why would you in you re mind try as hard as the other team knowing you are already there. that has to be in their minds ,at times yesterday against Saskatoon the blades had no business even being tied with pats, but pats again did not put in the best effort. mark my words the pats are way better than their record shows, but they will have their hands full against moose jaw ,but against moose jaw they will play their best probably win a game or two in the four if our goalie plays as good as theirs !Sam steel looks great lately. Playing Moose jaw will definitely get the pats going

Why is it every time Pats lose to so called weaker teams like Saskatoon these write ups don't show up for hours after the game and like this one the next morning ? The game ended around 7 pm last night and nothing on here until next morning, and to rub it in a little further there was a Football Post before this. These sorry looking Pats are only 5 points up on Saskatoon and Saskatoon has one game in hand. And to top it off they keep calling them Memorial Cup Champions to be. Well it is just not going to happen. This Regina team has a very small hand full of Good players and that my friends is not near enough to Compete in the League Playoffs little own the Memorial Cup. Go Blades Go !

"Nothing last year?" Worry, but this season ticket holder quite enjoyed the ride last year. Unfortunate finish yes, but I believe if the whole team had been healthy, we would've won it all.

This year has been frustrating but I still believe they'll be fine. Thinking negative gets you nowhere. The road trip coming up will do wonders for the team to bond and get things figured out.

GO PATS!!

Glad to see all the fans from other WHL teams are supporting a Pats blog lol.

Makes no sense to me but welcome ha ha

There are some seriously idiotic fools who seem to think it's ok to play sloppy uninspired hockey since they are in the tournament anyway. These are people who know nothing about the game of hockey at all. What a losers mentality. This team is not much better now than before the trades. Three poor teams and the best they can do is barely .500?? They are going to continue playing crap hockey but will mystically appears are world beaters and memorial cup champions in May?? You are what your record says you are, no better. When and how are they going to beat the Warriors or Broncos since they haven't yet. Even if they manage to squeak out a win or two against these teams, it means nothing in a seven game series. Those guys who think they can play crappy but suddenly become incredible should have big "L"s tattooed on their foreheads.

these sorry looking pats are going to surprise you Willy I watch them all the time a handful of goodplayers lol we will see Willy and Andrew you both are setting yourself up to be wrong and what a laugh I will have if the patsprove you wrong in the playoffs!

Morgan said...

Two games in the middle of February won't matter by May. The Pats will be primed and ready to win the Memorial Cup!!! Your sour grapes will have to satisfy your thirst for a championship.

Morgan said...

You Saskatoon fans would know what it takes to compete in a memorial cup judging by the way your last appearance went... Oh wait hahahahaha

The Pats are under-performing, which is unfortunate, but playoff and Championship games are not played in February. They still have time to elevate their level of play.

Go Warriors. Warriors and Broncos are licking their chops at the chance to play the Pats. The Pats won't win a single game this year against theses guys. They can't even do better than 500 with the central div. If they fluke a win it won't mean anything. Then some moron saying the Pats are going to get hot in playoffs and memorial cup. They may not even make the playoffs yet. The Pats won't win a single game in the playoffs or Memorial Cup. Not one game. Heck the Pats wouldn't even be in a playoff spot in the Western Conference. What a joke…..

Morgan, if you had a thirst for an ACTUAL championship, you might be a bit more worried about whether or not the Pats are ready to play their way into the Memorial Cup. Seems all you care to think about is 'appearances'. By the way, if I were in your shoes I wouldn't be laughing at the Blades 2013 host team; they had a far more successful regular season than this year's Pats are having and look where it got them - care to extrapolate?

Anonymous said...

The Pats reminded me of the Blades team when they lasted hosted the Memorial Cup - some great players but not playing as a team. Still think they will be fine overall but will depend on who they play in the playoffs. Some huge egos on the team that have to be kept in check which can be tough to do

Anonymous said...

Check again I think they would be in but regina math may be different then swift math.

Andrew Wiens said...

Why would you assume that I agree with Willy’s assessment of the Pats situation?

Anonymous said...

Because Wiens you are from Swift Current and don't know any better. That's why.

Morgan said...

I guess the Memorial Cup must be different in swift current. It gets awarded to the best regular season team... You learn something new every day I suppose.

Morgan said...

The warriors can have all the regular season wins they like... The pats will take the games that count in May!!! Go Pats Go!!!

Andrew Wiens said...

I guess if you actually read my posts instead of doing the occasional ignorant flyby on this blog then you would know that I don't agree with Willy. Making those kinds of comments certainly doesn't put your own fan base in a very good light, especially if I were to assume that you are representative of Pats fans.

Andrew, yes the blades had a better record and how did they do not so well they weren't in many of the games at the 2013 memorial cup how dos this compare to Regina? the tournament hasn't even been played yet don't count chickens before they have been laid lol

Anonymous said...

Andrew still sour from seeing his broncos lose to pats last year after being up 3 to one in series

Anonymous said...

I agree with person above, Pats won't win a single game in playoffs if they even make them, and absolutely zero wins in Mem Cup.

Sorry, but from the last game of each of Regina and Saskatoon in Brandon, my two cents would be as follows (1) Regina has a lot better team than they had before the trade deadline, although it may end up costing them dearly in the future if even only some of those high picks go on to become great Dub players elsewhere. (2) Understandably, there seems to be a lack of chemistry currently among some of their new players, which the Pats can hope improves over the balance of the regular season and into the playoffs (3) Regina out shot Brandon decisively but did not put the game out of reach when they had so many chances to do so. There was no killer instinct and perhaps some complacency. (4) In contrast, the Blades do not have as skilled a roster as the Pats right now, and despite being ahead against the Wheat Kings, blew it in the third period to lose. However, the effort was apparent, and dare I say it looked as if the Blades they were playing like it meant something to them. (5) Regina may not have that same level of urgency, but it is not that easy to turn the switch on when the playoffs or Memorial Cup commence, if they continue their "so so" regular season. (6) Paddock has not forgot to coach. The players just need to perform. (7) Steel is playing better and better, and they need him to be a star if Regina is to have any chance of a respectable run at the Memorial Cup. (8) One should never say it cannot happen, but it would not surprise me if the Pats do not win more than one game in the Memorial Cup. (9). From their games in Brandon this year, I would also say that as much as Regina has improved, and Saskatoon as well from the start of the season), the Warriors have been by far the best opponent in Brandon thus far this year. Swift Current was very good too, but we're also reliant so heavily on their first line. By improving their depth and adding some pieces on D and in goal, they will not be a push over, and Moose Jaw will have to continue to play well as a group and get solid goaltending from Wilms.(10) At the end of the day, I know no more than the rest of you, and will finish by saying even though the Wheat Kings will probably bow out in the first round, if they can even hang on to a playoff spot, Kelly has turned a year where they likely were not going to win anyways into a situation where the team's future should continue to consist of decent teams in the playoffs annually if even some of the high picks turn out (deals he orchestrated even though he is in Vegas).

Morgan, your learning project for tomorrow: look up the meaning of the word 'extrapolate'. Unfortunately, that might cause you to question what you thought you 'learned' today.

Whatever helps you sleep at night Andrew. I think you need to read the rule book so you can better understand the playoff systems and memorial cup works in the CHL... you clearly have zero clue.
