ESKIMOS ADVANCE TO WEST DIVISION FINAL

WINNIPEG - Adarius Bowman caught two touchdown passes and C.J. Gable added a pair on the ground as the Edmonton Eskimos defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 39-32 in Sunday's CFL West Division semifinal.

It was Edmonton's sixth straight victory and earned them a trip to Calgary for next Sunday's division final against the Stampeders (13-4-1).

Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly completed 23-of-33 pass attempts for 334 yards with three TDs and no interceptions.

Bombers quarterback Matt Nichols, who didn't appear to be hampered by a calf injury, was 35 of 48 for 371 yards with three TDs and no picks in front of an announced attendance of 27,244 at Investors Group Field.

The loss bumped up Winnipeg's Grey Cup drought to 27 seasons.

Edmonton played in last year's East Division final as the crossover team, losing to the eventual Grey Cup-champion Ottawa Redblacks.

Winnipeg offence could have easily scored 35 or 38 points if not for gambling on 3rd down in desperation mode. That should be enough points to win a game. Edmonton offence was just too much for Bomber defence.

Fake punt. Stupid call. Nuff said.

Edmonton offence was too much for the Bomber defence?

Winnipeg defence has been their Achilles heel all year long. Every team has shredded the Bombers defence at one point or another. I would've been more concerned as an Eskimo fan if they didn't dominate the Bombers D.

In the end, the Bombers were who everyone thought they were when the season began.

Coaching errors caused this defeat, some real dumb ones.....

The Bombers first home playoff game in 6 years...and just 27,000 fans? Sad..

Where are the fans? Oh yeah, they need the Rider fans to sell out the stadium.

To the anonymous above........this wasn’t even a rider game. Why would they need rider fans to sell out the stadium for an Edmonton/Winnipeg game??? Dummie!!

You totally missed the point of the comment... the only games that are sold out in Winnipeg are ones with rider fans in attendance. If you can't understand that then it must be true about what they say about winnipeggers...

OK mr smarty pants Morgan......what is it that they say about Winnipeggers??? As I recall, the last two Rider games, thousands upon thousands of fans stayed home because they were afraid of a bit of cold.....so what’s their excuse???

Hate to say it, but I think the Evil Empire will take the Stinks.

Not sure who I am cheering for.

Winnipeggers are as dumb as they get...rider fans didn't stay home from a playoff game. In fact the stadium was still nearly sold out for a game that meant virtually nothing. Move along young chap, you've been taken to school once again! Go Riders Go!!!
