TICATS DEAL C.J. GABLE TO ESKIMOS

HAMILTON - C.J. Gable's reward for a stellar performance Saturday night was a new team.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats dealt the veteran running back to the Edmonton Eskimos on Monday for the rights to two negotiation-list players. CFL teams keep the players on their negotiation list confidential.

Gable ran for 157 yards and two touchdowns in Hamilton's 43-35 overtime loss to the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday night. Gable was replacing Alex Green, who rushed for 140 yards in the club's 24-23 road win over B.C. on Sept. 22.

The 29-year-old appeared in 51 regular-season games over five seasons with Hamilton. Gable ran for 2,372 yards and 17 TDs while adding 147 catches for 1,497 yards and eight touchdowns.

Gable was a two-time East Division all-star and a finalist for the CFL's top rookie award in 2013.

The Jon Chick trade from Hamilton to Edmonton went really well, he lost 7 straight with Ti Cats and then once in Edmonton, they went from 7-0 to losing 6 straight with Chick. Maybe Gable will bring similar success as well.

With Big games left to play against BC and SK. The Eskimos are going to do everything and anything to pull themselves out of the 6 game losing funk. They want an experienced CFL RB that can help them right now.
This isn’t the 1st time the EE have pulled a rabbit out of Hamilton’s hat right near the end of the season. Anyone remember the EE trading Hamilton just before the playoffs for Canadian Running Back Jesse Lumsden. Sadly for Jesse it didn’t turn out too well. Might be the same for CJ Gable.

Gable is due to be a free agent at the end of this season. Austin probably discussed the potential of a contract extension with him, if he wanted him back, as Gable has been injured a lot, over the course of his career. It would appear that Austin is getting something for the future of the Ti-Cats as opposed to nothing, if Gable had played out the year.

Interesting. The chance of Gable working out is slim because Lumsden & Chick, both TiCats brought in, are/were busts. By that same logic the chance of Richardson working out are the same as Vince Young, both washed up NFL'ers brought in. How'd that work out? Of course we all know Riderville doesn't apply the same flawed thinking to their own players. The standard reply goes something like this. Jones is a genius & what harm in giving it a try. Maas is an idiot so why try something doomed to fail.

CJ might work out for the EE. I think the only difference between Maas with Gable and Jones with Richardson. Is the EE gave up a couple draft picks.
Gable is in his 30’s and RB don’t last to long into their 30’s.
