PATS DOWN EDMONTON 3-2 IN OT

Keith Hershmiller Photography
Regina – The Regina Pats won a second consecutive game in overtime on Sunday, 3-2 over the Edmonton Oil Kings at the Brandt Centre.

The game’s first goal did not come until the second period when the Edmonton powerplay broke through thanks to Connor McDonald to make it 1-0. Matt Bradley tied it for the Pats with his ninth, just over 10 minutes later, but less than a minute after that, Davis Koch scored on a breakaway and the Oil Kings led 2-1 after two periods.

In the third, Sam Steel drew the Pats even with a powerplay goal at 11:20, his fourth of the year and that eventually forced overtime.

Regina started the extra frame on the powerplay and a minute in, Emil Oksanen finished off a beautiful passing play with Sam Steel and Josh Mahura and the Pats won 3-2.

Regina outshot Edmonton 30-26, the powerplay was two for four and the penalty kill three for four.

Josh Mahura led the offence with a three assist night, Sam Steel and Matt Bradley each had a goal and an assist and Tyler Brown made 24 saves in the victory.

Greasy win for the Pat's, hopefully they can get on a roll. The stupidity of people never fails to amaze me. While attending the Pat's game I had planned on parking in the small lot north of the Cooperators center main parking lot. Unfortunately 2 hillbillies between the 3 yellow concrete markers for the entrance. Hopefully they were ticketed or towed they blocked the only entrance and exit, selfish morons.

I can see why Oil Kings beat the undefeated Broncos the night before. A tenacious checking Team that didn't give our skilled players an inch of room for the 1st 2 periods. You could see the frustration setting in, but what was nice to see was that the boys hung in there and took advantage of opportunities when few were available.
Then to top it off with that hi-lite reel 3-way passing play to win in OT... was worth the price of admission!!
I really liked Creta's play last night, and as well Lockner seems to be getting his legs back so playing his gritty annoying game again.
Next 3 home games will be a test for this Team as Brandon looks like they are on an early season roll...would be good to topple them!
Also asell-out crowd...kudus to The Regiment!
Go Pats Go!

I agree with the oil king assessment, went to game in Moose Jaw and they hung 40'some shots on warriors and the oil kings roster is full of young guys. This will be an up and coming young team in whl. It is going to be an awesome year in the east division in whl, lots of really skilled young players.

Oil Kings play a tight checking playoff style. Good experience for the young kids, not much room and decisions have to be made quickly.
