WALL TO RETIRE FROM POLITICS

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall says it's time for renewal.

The 51-year-old has announced he is retiring from politics.

Wall has served as premier for a decade and says he will stay on until his successor is chosen.

He's been ranked as one of the country's most popular premiers for years, but took a hit after his government tabled an austerity budget this spring that boosted the provincial sales tax and made deep cuts to social services.

Politicians are like Diapers. They should be changed often and for the same reason.

Wow..you guys would rather have the NDP?? Must not own a business or have a non union job.

Careful what you wish for!!

NDP in power would be better Yeah right!

I've lived in fear of this announcement for 10 years. I'm scared the non-thinkers in the cities and universities will vote in the other guys just like in Alberta and guess how that's turning out.

Small town working man.

Brad Wall is a great premier. He will be missed.

this province is full of cry babies, he has heard enough crying.

And the NDP are now coming out of the wood work, high fiving each other and saying "do you think there's a chance"?

Previous posters should stick to what they do best rag on the riders and show some respect for the premier

Still popular, nice to leave on top on his own terms, better than staying too long.
All politicians should have term limits, like two terms.
An ex-premier like Mr. Wall can still be very influential within Sask. while the next person has their chance to run things.

Hey, NDP'ers, this does nothing for you, there's no general election.

Brad Wall has the hardest job in the country! Being the premier of Saskatchewan is a tall order. Don't take this the wrong way but people in Saskatchewan are the whiniest I've ever seen! I can say that with all due respect as I was born in Saskatchewan and lived there for the first 27 years of my life. They whine when it's cold, they whine when it's hot. They whine when the roads are bad, then they whine when there's construction. They whine when the economy is struggling and their aren't enough jobs to go around... Then they whine when the economy is booming and the province is filling up with foreigners. People in Saskatchewan are great people... But one thing for sure is that they are never happy! Brad Wall is a saint for putting up with all of their bs for the past decade!

My Diapers comment was meant for all Politicians, weather they be NDP, Sask Party, Liberal, or Conservative.

The best type of Government is the one that can't get anything done!

Political Atheist.

Best wishes to the best Premier in Canada and Saskatchewan history. God forbid the entitled generation vote in the NDP like they did with that piece of fluff in Ottawa.

Speaking of entitled, the complainers that keep refusing to let go of the water fountain non-issue should either learn to drink tap water, buy some fricking water or stay home. One of the best stadiums in North America yet people continue to complain about water, the seats and whether someone stands up in front of you. You'd think the NDP were already in power.

And this has what to do with a sports blog? Let's keep politics where it belongs.....in the gutter!

Good point. I don't trust Jones any farther than I can throw him but I have always trusted Wall. And he is a nice guy too.

Not sure why Rod found it necessary to post that announcement. Need more hits to pay for tweety bird? Brad Walll was the best premier we've had in a long time. Thank you for doing a real job.

Anonymous said...

Who cares! I come here for sports, not politics! Get over it and let's move on!

Anonymous said...

Rod found it necessary BECAUSE IT'S HIS F*CKING BLOG!!!!

Anonymous said...

Quite well actually. A government for the people not the oil companies.

Anonymous said...

I could not agree more it's his blog he can put on it what he wants people choose to take the time to come to it if you don't like his content then go start your own blog for loser idiots who are narrow-minded chronic b**** and moan type people. No one held a gun to your head and forced you to click on this. Idiotic statements from idiotic people

I wonder if Rod would be interested in the job of premier - Premier Pederson does have a nice ring to it!

But would he give up being a radio host and play-by-play guy to donate his voice, charm and folksy ways to the people of our fine province?

Certainly Sruffy would make an excellent chief of staff. John Lynch could finally take on the challenge of Lieutenant Governor.

Folksy..........bwahahahha!!!!!

Personally jealous we never had him for Premier in Alberta. And Saskatchewan you better be careful what you wish for you could get the NDP like we did.
How about Jones for Premier? And Brad can take over the Riders.

The Riders had never won a grey when the NDP was in power.

This is football related how? And in unrelated news, Charmin 3-ply is on sale at Costco...

If NDP get elected, you will see a gigantic exodus to Alberta to their new United conservative Jason Kenny government in 2019. This is a cycle repeating itself yet again.

GWil26 said...

Hahahahha ya Alberta is flourishing... oh and I live in CGY so I'm not hating just being real. The NDP are on a great path to bury the AB economy just like BC and SK before it!

Anonymous said...

You read it here first...........Nicole Sarauer for Premier!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I agree with GWil26 and I'm in Edmonton. You will wish for Brad to be back shortly after the NDP come into power.

The NDP have ruined every province they had power in, watch what you wish for
