TICATS, RIDERS TALK TRADE FOR ZACH COLLAROS

3DownNation.com's Justin Dunk reported on Wednesday that the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats have had trade discussions involving Ticats quarterback Zach Collaros.

Roughriders Head Coach & GM Chris Jones commented on the report after Thursday's practice.

"That was very premature," Jones said. "The report was very premature. Were there conversations? Yeah. I mean they called and we spoke. But that's about the extent of it."

Veteran pivot Jeremiah Massoli has supplanted Collaros as Hamilton's starting quarterback for Monday's Labour Day Classic against the Toronto Argonauts at Tim Hortons Field.

Collaros is the CFL's second-highest paid player behind Edmonton quarterback Mike Reilly.

I think Jones should check his office for bugs. It seems he has a growing dislike for Dunk.

In any case Collaros would do well on a team with depth at receiver and O-line. He has succeeded on two different teams, leading one to the Grey Cup game and almost winning it. I'm sure he hasn't forgotten how to play. It'll come back sooner or later. Similar to Lulay.

The best bet is still to sign Franklin the off season (unless Franklin is looking at an NFL gig).

Still not sure why Franklin has this legend status. What has he really done?

Franklin will be an Argo in short order after a sign and trade. Either that or Montreal. Book it!

No, no and I repeat No. Funny how Windbag Myers wanted Bridge to start a couple of weeks ago, and now he is saying no need to change the QB. Madani schooled him well RP!

Franklin will NOT. Make it here 1-Eskies will trade him before he is free agent and 2- he doesnt want to play on a team who is always last and misses the playoffs every year.

2013 grey cup champs and its uh 2017

Odd musings... funny how Drew Willy didn't want to stay in Saskatchewan as Darian Durant's backup. Now in the same position in Montreal he's ready to show everyone that he was and is the better qb while taking the high priced mediocre qb's job.
Drew Willy = effective and methodical under the right circumstances.

Wait for it. wait... wait... here it is; Montreal fires Kavis Consequences Reed and releases Darian Less than Mediocre Durant.

Durant for Collaros would be a good move in the CFL.

who cares where the schmo fan was last week....i know where he is this week, in the hospital recovering from heat stroke after the riders burned house down

Collaros is like the band Dexy's Midnight Runners...a one year wonder. Leave him in Hamilton.

The crazy SHMO fan is living in a deluded state. A few weeks back it was Toronto no doubt for the destination for Franklin, then it was Hamilton, now it's Toronto or Montreal. Don't buy any Lotto Max tickets bub!

Collaros is more likely to end ip in Toronto if Ray retires after this year. He and Rays contracts are similar. Montreal has a ton of guaranteed money tied up in Durant. Nobody down east has any money to sign Franklin. Franklin don't want to go to teams that are usually sub .500 and eat up QB's like Pez. Plus none of them have much talent to give back.

Right now the odds on bet is that he will want to come to an up and coming team that will win a GC either this year or next. He had a great relationship with Jones and the Riders have the money to sign and the resources to trade if he come this season. Franklin holds the cards and they are green and white...

What ????

Methinks this was leaked by Hamilton on purpose to try and drive up some interest on trading Collaros. Tillman and Austin are grasping at straws to try and save their jobs. IMHO they are not very ethical - but are also not stupid.

Just another article of Fake News by Pinhead Dunk. I am beginning to NOT have any respect for him at all.

Go Riders Go

Worth it if you can renegotiate his salary. Buy low.

Funny how Rider fans brag about Bridges, Adams etc. & yet can't get enough of Franklin. Unrequited love for Eskimo coaches last year, Eskimo QB this year. Kinda throws cold water on your existing QB situation. Clear admission they're not good enough. Careful Rider Nation, your inferiority complex is showing.

Why the hell would Franklin agree to a sign and trade deal when he can become a free agent and negotiate with 2 or 3 maybe 4 teams? Stupidest comment on here so far.

Kevin Glenn and Doubles are near equal on the qb scale. Ever since they played togeather on 08 they have been close in overall ability. Glenn's career stats are quite a bit better than Durant's but Durant has one cup.

Both Durant and Collaros are way overpaid. They make twice as much as Glenn and more than even BLM? Does'nt make sense and coach Jones got it right by waving good bye to overpriced Doubles.

I'll say this again. The Riders can go all the way to the cup with Glenn IF he has enough good talent around him. His reasonable salary helps make that happen.

You think the 3 or 4 teams interested in Franklin aren't talking trade before free agency? Bombers& Eskimos were both waiting for Reilly to hit free agency. While Bombers sat, Hervey made a trade with Buono & got Reilly early. Signing a contract was the easy part. If Riders want Franklin waiting for him to hit free agency is pure stupidity. His rights will be traded to a team for first crack at him just like Reilly, just like Durant. You're mistaken if you think everybody's going to stand around. Nobody is saying he signs early with Eskimos & they then trade him. That would be stupid. Equally stupid is thinking Eskimos let him get to free agency without trading him. They have an asset teams want. I'm surprised that Riderville still assumes that Franklin has to come here. The relationship with Jones was this. Reilly got injured game1 in 2015. Jones didn't like what he saw when Nichols took over so Franklin played until Reilly came back & then sat out the rest of the year. There is NO special connection with Jones other than the Riders team being one of a few teams that could use him. Do you think that if it was in the bag with Franklin Jines would have traded for Adams or be in talks with Collaros? Seriously, give your heads a shake.
