ESKIMOS TOP LIONS 37-26

EDMONTON - Mike Reilly ran in a pair of touchdowns and passed for two more as the Edmonton Eskimos took sole possession of first place in the CFL with a 37-26 victory over the B.C. Lions on Friday.

The Eskimos remained the only undefeated team in the league, upping their record to 5-0. The Lions dropped to 4-2, with both of their losses coming against the Eskimos.

Edmonton didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard, as a 65-yard passing play from Reilly to Duke Williams on the first play of the game set up a 14-yard TD pass to Brandon Zylstra just 74 seconds into the contest.

The Eskimos added to their lead with a 44-yard field goal by Sean Whyte, before Lions kicker Ty Long nailed a 49-yarder to make it 10-3.

Edmonton had a couple of things start to go wrong late in the first quarter when Reilly threw an interception for the first time this season and running back Travon Van left the game with a neck injury.

However, Edmonton got its momentum back early in the second as Reilly connected on a pass to Vidal Hazelton, who took the ball all the way to the end zone on what would end up as a 108-yard touchdown, the longest reception in Eskimos history.

Reilly is the best in the CFL...Franklin will either choose to stay as he is or be traded by the end of the year to probably Montreal, Argos or Hamilton. Don't count Winnipeg out either. Sorry but there is nothing a team like Sask has to make Edmonton even think of helping you bums out.

Another solid game ruined in the 4th quarter by challenges. Nothing is wrong with the game though right Rod?

Last nights game... Edmonton and BC, Thurs. nights game... Montreal and Winnipeg, Riders aren't even in the same league. Chamblin will come here tonight and prove that he should have been kept here with a win , and tomorrow we will have to listen once again to Jones Bullshit story on how they got beat.

Considering two years ago the Eskimos were looking for a head coach, assistant coaches and to replace players many of whom who left for "greener" pastures in Riderville; they have done a great job in rebuilding. What have we done in the same period of time? Oh yeah we built a new stadium instead.

Oh no! Sack the coach! Our team will never win again. Those Eskimos are a league above us. They..... Oh wait. It was the Lions they beat.never mind.

Hey Luc I heard you on the cage saying that B.C will beat the Eskies last night because they are the best team now .How did that work out for you as the ESKIES were missing 14 players coming into the game and lost another running back early in the game and played most of the second half without their kicker/punter and STILL won improving to a CFL best 5-0.

Congratulations CFL, you have made the game unwatchable. If it's not the Refs throwing a flag then it's the coaches throwing theirs. Then it's the delay while the command center checks the needless flags. Please let the players play!

Possible solution to the challenge problem:

At present it seems like they have what seems like an eternity to search tablets and decide whether to throw a flag or not.

NEW RULE; Challenges must be issued within FIVE SECONDS from the end of the play. That way, if you don't see it as it happens then the game goes on.

Franklin is a free agent at the end of the year and will go to the highest bidder. The Riders will be where he will land in the off-season you can be sure. Eskimos will not trade him as they are all-in for the Grey Cup this year and need him for insurance in case Reilly should get hurt.

Omg there are still people looking to Franklin to be some kind of messiah. This province is insane.

Franklin will get traded before free agency...exactly how the Eskimos landed Mike Reilly, asked permission to talk to him and then B.C traded him to us for what they could get before he was lost to free agency for nothing. My bet is there will be a few teams looking to nab Franklin and I also am betting the Riders will be low on the list due to your GM Jones and the Eskies organization...find your Qb somewhere else.

The Esks don't have to trade Franklin till after the season & they control where he goes, not theRiders. Just because he played for Jones doesn't mean he wants to go there. Foster, Andrew Jones, Chambers & Lawrence all followed Chris to Regina. The 2 in the CFL hurried back to Edmonton after being dumped by Jones, Oh yes, Korrey Jones also is now playing well as Sherritt's replacement. Another Esk who signed up with coach Jones & was dumped. Do you think players don't talk about how they're treated? With Chambers, Lawrence, Korrey Jones on the roster I'm sure Franklin, who is a pretty smart guy, has a good idea of what he'd be getting into with the Riders yeah, he played for Jones. That was so 2 years ago. Keep dreaming.

Hope it happens soon cuz I'm sick of hearing about it.

To many flags from the refs and the coaches. Unless it's blatant let it go and take the flags away from the coaches. Enough already.
Time to turn to the NFL until the CFL fixes this asinine problem.

Why would Montreal trade for him? According to a few fanatics they have the greatest QB to ever roam the earth.

Also with the deal on Franklin...this guy is a class act all the way and is still I believe 25 years of age, young enough yet to take a shot at the NFL which who knows he may just have that chance. Going to Sask with the gong show going on could really screw that up for him and you fans I have seen on here expect players to stay no matter what or they are a sell out so you honestly don't deserve his presence. I hope the Esks send him to a team that understands his dreams of the NFL and give him every chance to go for it when he does get traded off because he deserves the best situation.
