BINGHAM TO THE RAVENS? NOT SO FAST

It's football's version of a love triangle.

Rookie defensive back Zavian Bingham Tweeted a thank you to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday for the "opportunity".

That's led many in football to believe the NFL's Ravens have extended a tryout to the Jackson State product, who starred in Saskatchewan Roughriders Minicamp in Florida this week with four interceptions in just two days' work.

However unfortunately for Bingham's NFL chances, he's signed property of the Saskatchewan Roughriders for the next two years.

Now the Riders may be willing to let the 5'10", 190 lb product of Terry, Mississippi out of his deal in order to work out for Baltimore, however club officials told me Saturday night that they have yet to hear from the Ravens or Bingham's agent.

Don't forget, the Riders did the legwork to identify Bingham while with the Tigers, sign him, and bring him to camp. Plus, they have a need at halfback with the loss of Justin Cox. If they do what's best for the team, they'll hold him to his CFL deal.

Bingham later Tweeted that he and Roughriders Head Coach & GM Chris Jones "have an understanding".
That could mean that Bingham will return to the Roughriders if his tryout with the Ravens is unsuccessful.

Or, it could mean something else entirely.

Stay tuned.

Hold him from having the chance of the NFL and then see him leave the riders no matter what for not giving him the chance to go to the NFL when giving opportunity. Also hold him from the NFL and have fun getting top end talent from the U.S of any kind for that reason alone knowing that the riders will hold you from having the chance of making a career in the big market of the NFL. Give the players the feeling the riders are more important then you making bigger dollars and getting to the big league of the NFL...good idea Rod, BRAINS

Do the Riders really want a player who has a contractual obligation to appear in games but doesn't have his heart into playing for the team? Better to let him go for a try out, fail and come back with a better or different attitude.
Lots of guys out there who are available.

One training camp, not one man does not a team make. Mr. Jones will find another, no problem. 5'10 Bingham not game tested on the field of play where it counts. Move on.

Overreact much...

Remember Stevie Baggd he was signed by Hamilton and Arizona called him.to play.....

Jones doesn't seem the the type to hold guys from an opportunity. Pretty sure the Riders will be releasing him with the understanding that he'd come back to the Riders if it doesn't work out with the NFL.

They should release him. Didn't they have a pile of good DB's in min-camp? So he's that much of a difference maker? C'Mon. How many comments have I seen after Cox's release that he'd be easy to replace? Move on already - nothing to see here.

lets cut this contractual bull sh out it's binding they found him worked him out and now we as a league are being raided and laughed at like the players "who have an understanding" and all associated think they are. Say what you sign, you stay , you play up! Get with it because the Jones man is beginning to appear to be a bit of all that is lazy and nearly all gone in this league.

Obviously people are seeing our training camp videos. Time to shut the media out of those events if it's gonna cost us players. Sorry rod and others but we can't have this happening.

If he has an opportunity he will be allowed to pursue it. At 5'10" it's a long shot, NFL is all about size, talent is secondary. He could give it a shot and return to the Riders and try to catch on in August or after Labor Day.

Seriously - the genii for finding talent, Murphy & Jones, can't find another DB? Didn't they have 6 mini-camps before Christmas as Jones said. They have 4 more scheduled. Who exactly is Zavier Bingham if he has to pay an entry fee to get into a camp? Are the Riders now reduced to holding on to training camp fodder for dear life? It's a good indication of how bad & how desperate we are when we're arguing over a player most of us know nothing about. Last year it was 6'6" Jeremey Spencer who loads of people were gaga about after mini-camp. Jeremey who? Precisely.

So what if Ravens are skimming off Riders efforts in discovering players. The CFL owes a lot to NFL. There may not even be a CFL if not for NFL bailout(s) in the past. They've got our backs.

I think Wally just paid a fine for 'having an understanding' with Adam Bighill. Isn't that what Bingham is claiming he has?

Bingham didn't go to a tryout I talked to him he explain that him an coach Jones have a bond an he wouldn't mind playing for him an will play for him if this doesn't works out the club neg him an he just was showing love by going to the many camp you guys should respect the guy knowing he was draft eligible an still showed loyalty an love god have different roads for people

At this point all the information anyone seems to have is based on the tweets of Bingham. On what basis did he send out these tweets? Maybe none at all. He may not understand the legality of his contract with the Riders. It would not be the first time a young football player naively never understood the contract he agreed to and how serious of a commitment it was.

Hey I wish the guy all the best at making the Baltimore Ravens!

Great question. Jeremy who?

The Riders never signed a player named Jeremy Spencer last season.

You just lost every ounce of credibility.

Let the man try out for Baltimore! If he makes the team, good for him. If a player gets a chance to play for thousands more in the NFL, more power to him.If he doesn't make the Ravens, he can come back

Precisely my point. Jeremy KELLEY was the receiver & I was wondering if anyone would notice. That makes ONE. I am sure no one will remember Xavier Birkham next year either.

There was no pun intended. Lol!
