VIGR RECAP: PATS 4 WARRIORS 3

Randy Palmer/MJ Times Herald
MOOSE JAW - Before a sellout crowd at Mosaic Place Saturday night, the Regina Pats narrowly held on for a 4-3 victory over the Warriors, and a sweep of their weekend home-and-home series.

One night after beating the Tribe 5-0 in Regina, the Pats built up a 3-0 lead on the road on goals by Brayden Buziak, Adam Brooks and Filip Ahl before the 2:00 mark of the second period.

However the Warriors charged back in the middle frame with goals by Brayden Burke and Thomas Foster to make it 3-2 Pats after 40 minutes.

It was a tight game in the third, but Regina got the back-breaker when Adam Brooks scored his second of the game - and 39th of the season - on a breakaway at the 11:45 mark.

Moose Jaw captain Brett Howden got his team within a goal at 4-3 with 5:10 remaining and then the Warriors thought they tied it with just three seconds remaining on a crease crash.

However the goal was waved off, and Regina escaped with the victory to improve their record to 48-12-8.  With the loss, the Warriors fell to 41-19-8.

Moose Jaw outshot Regina 35-22.  The Pats were 1/2 on the powerplay and 4/4 killing penalties.

Tyler Brown got the win in the Pats net while Zach Sawchenko took the loss for the Warriors.

hope all the fans that have complained all year about the lack of a top level tender are now enjoying their crow. Tyler Brown is now
4th in GAA, 5th in wins, 3rd in SO, and 9th in Sa% and oh yes MJ's Sawchenko is behind him.
Great week end sweep, need only one more point to secure the League Championship.
Well done.

Steel, Leedahl and Harrison on the ice for all the goals against. Defence won't work unless everybody buys in..

Very nice.

remple was complaining on twitter that the last second moose jaw review shoulda been a goal. It was goalie interference so bad by Noah gregor.

Big picture--- the weekend sweep means absolutely nothing if these two teams meet in the second round. The Pats got outplayed tonight but came up big when needed. It was nice to see Brown outplay Sawchenko to steal a game. I always enjoy a good outing in MJ. One more win until the Pats clinch first overall.

So much for top 10 lol

In the words of Luc Mullinder...

"See ya..."

Where did all the MJ fans go...

Another playoff-like effort and performance from the Pats.

Noah Gregor (22) should have been called for goal tender interference in the dying seconds of the game for putting his shoulder/body into Tyler Brown in order to push both him and the puck into the net. It's good that the goal was waved off, but a penalty should have been called as well.

Warrior fans are wrong if they think that should have been called a goal.

Looks like the Moose took another shot to the Jaw. The Pats are getting their groove back.

The trolls have gone back in their hole for a while.

Tough pill to swallow for the Pats haters, goaltending experts and other idiots. Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with pigeons. No matter how good you are, the bird is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Temple was complaining on Twitter that the last second goal should have counted....
Of course he would. However if the rolls were reversed. Temple would argue that the correct call was made.
You don't have to be a hockey know it all to see that was goalie interference. Why else would the refs make that ballsy of a call in the home town arena of the Warriors.
Ifs and buts boys.... Ifs and buts.

Another huge win for the pats over those weak warriors! The boys from regina headed west and handed down a whooping on those wussy warriors in their tiny little barn of an arena!!! Pats prevail!!!

I rest my case on Brown.
Go Pats Go!

Haha Sask rush get no love from here, that team will dissapear from Saskatoon the moment they start losing. Ive seen this movie several times before. Maybe go support your sorry Blades to prove that Saskatoon should be taken a bit more seriously. LOL!

So desperate to promote a running shoe surface with a ball and mesh hockey style game. Just accept the fact that no one outside of Saskatoon could give a hairy rats crack about it.
Sorry dude... It's the truth.
Think about it. Even after winning the league. Edmonton could care less and let the team shuffle over to Saskatoon.
If you love it and want to support them. GREAT go for it. Just leave the rest of us alone.

Bobbys Bouchae's Mom.... don't be promoting no Foozball around here.

Can we have Rempel on the cage this week to discuss the Pats record against top teams?

Anonymous said...

Sure... your still below 500.

Hmm could've fooled me this weekend.
