SUNDAY SPORTS

Matt Murray made 27 saves as the Penguins shut out the Canucks 3-0 in Vancouver. The Canucks took another hit to their already bleak playoffs hopes. With the St. Louis Blues' beating the Islanders 4-3, the Canucks are now 10 points back for the second Wild Card spot in the West.

---

Calgary has a new record for victories after another strong performance from Brian Elliott. Elliott made 31 saves as the Flames shut out the Jets 3-0 in Winnipeg for their ninth win in a row. The nine victories sets a new Calgary record since the franchise moved from Atlanta in 1980. The franchise record is 10 games in 1978.

---

A good night for Craig Anderson. He made 14 saves to set the franchise wins mark and the Senators beat the Avalanche 4-2 for their sixth consecutive victory. Ottawa also moved into a tie with Montreal atop the Atlantic Division standings at 84 points. Anderson earned win number 147 with Ottawa and passed Patrick Lalime for the top spot.

---

Dion Waiters scored 20 points, Tyler Johnson added 16 and the Heat beat the Raptors 104-89. Miami is 21-4 over its last 25 games. DeMar DeRozan scored 17 points for Toronto. DeRozan was 5 for 10 from the field in the first quarter, but 0 for 6 the rest of the way as the Raptors once fell behind by 25 points.

---

It's a rematch for the Canadian men's curling championship. Canada's Kevin Koe defeated Manitoba's Mike McEwen 7-6 to earn a return ticket to the Brier final. He will face Newfoundland and Labrador's Brad Gushue. Koe beat Gushue in last year's final at Ottawa and went on to win the world championship.

---

World number 1 Andy Murray was stunned in his opening match at the BNP Paribas Open, losing 6-4, 7-6 to Canadian qualifier Vasek Pospisil. It was, without a doubt, the biggest singles victory of Pospisil's career. The Vancouver native's best accomplishment in tennis to date was winning a Wimbledon doubles title with Jack Sock of the U-S. Pospisil is ranked 129th.
