RIDERS SIGN CFL'S #1 FREE AGENT

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed international offensive lineman Derek Dennis.

Dennis (6’3 – 341) joins the Riders after playing 23 regular season games with the Calgary Stampeders over the previous two seasons. Last year, the 28-year-old Queens, New York native started all 18 games, the West Final and Grey Cup for the Stamps and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman and a CFL All-Star.

Before joining the Stampeders in September, 2015, the Temple University product spent time with the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins.

Dennis is a beast - very good pickup for Saskatchewan. He was looking for money, so you can bet Jones had to open his wallet for this one.

Awesome pick. Dennis was my first choice. I wonder what top o-line salary is?

Stamps loss is the Riders gain here. Very evident that the guy wanted to get paid and Huff does not break his salary structure for anybody. Good building block to start retooling the offensive line.

Jones/Murphy have the resourses to build long term after cutting the fat of a select few of the past regime. Trade Rob Bagg while at it?

JM Deane would also be a nice addition. As a Canadian OL as well, helps in the ratio. Not a bad idea to be very strong on the OL and put your money there. More time for the QB no matter who it is, will be a good thing. Then there is the running game. Get a good run game behind a solid OLine and it takes the pressure off of the QB, again whoever that may be.

Dennis-Labatte-Clark

The left side of the line looks good, just need to fill out the right side

Good news. The Stinks OLine won't be as strong this year.

If Best is back this season, than our O-line will be among the Best!

Now we need a real fire cracker at QB - onward with the Franklin Expedition!

Great scouting by Jones/Murphy!
What's that?
Oh, they didn't find him.

Is this Perret kid that was released from Montreal a week or so back of any interest? His creds look good, age, size, ability and he's a Canadian. He was getting $200K in Mtl hence his dismissal, wonder what we could get him for?

thoughts?

Murph scouted and signed Derek while in the Stamps employ. Know your cfl facts.

Still going to be haters where do you think we came up with the money for this much younger and proven talent. Trying to build a team for the future. To the Anon's give it a rest already. Sorry your fan favorites are gone their will be many more to come in the next couple years and i am sure you will all be on the wagon singing the praises. If not you can go cheer for Montreal with all their 34 year old plus signings you know there will be consequences.

Please come back this season Labatte and that left side will be unable to penetrate.

Way too valuable in locker room and no proven NI receiver to replace him. Hopefully Demski breaks out soon.

No I think Best's career is over, he's not even in game shape because of injury. So this Double D signing is even more important that the Riders made with Derick Dennis
