2016 GREY CUP PHOTOS FROM THE 6IX

2016 Grey Cup Week in Toronto is well underway!  The Calgary Stampeders will oppose the Ottawa RedBlacks in the 104th Grey Cup on Sunday but for now, it's all about the party.  Here are some photos from the past 24 hours ...

Unfortunately you do have to look long and hard to find Grey Cup signage but CKRM's Luc Mullinder did find ONE banner comemmorating the event!

Most of the action - that I've seen - has centred around Maple Leaf Square, adjacent to the Air Canada Centre, home of the Maple Leafs.  That will change Thursday evening when the parties open up at the Convention Centre ...

The annual CFL Media Party was held at the Real Sports Bar & Grill across the street from ACC.  Thanks to the Toronto Argonauts for putting it on!

Two radio colour analysts: the Riders' Carm Carteri and the Lions Giulio Caravatta.  Giulio will provide the radio colour on Sunday nationally with partner Rod Black on TSN Radio and 620 CKRM ...

Our old pal Ricky Foley of the Argonauts is making the rounds with 6-7 appearances per day!  Here he poses with Luc ...

Winnipeg legends!  TSN's Milt Stegall, Sportsnet's Arash Madani, and the Voice of the Blue Bombers Bob Irving.  Arash spent a few seasons working in the Bombers' front office ...

The Bombers' Ed Tait along with TSN's Sara Orlesky and Gary Lawless ...

All smiles .. RedBlacks scout and Canadian Football Hall of Famer Miles Gorrell with the Toronto Sun's Steve Simmons ...

TSN's Farhan Lalji and TSN Radio's Kate Petterson ...

Yours truly with the Keeper of the Cup, Jeff McWhinney ...

A good look at the second floor and private room party at Real Sports ...

My hotel, and the media headquarters for Grey Cup ..

A lot of business is being done here, like this meeting between TSN's Dave Naylor and Toronto Argonauts President Michael Copeland ...

TSN 1290 Winnipeg's Hustler & Lawless show is broadcasting live.  Here are producer Adam Toy, Lawless and Andrew Paterson (Hustler) ...

The F-Troop having a pre-Grey Cup planning session.  They'll be providing security at Riderville!  For a Grey Cup blog and Riderville information, check out my Thursday blog on Riderville.com.

Grey Cup swag is available at Sportchek in Maple Leaf Square ...

The first guy I saw in Toronto!  Canadian Football Hall of Famer Damon Allen ...

And lastly, a plug for the Indian Head sports dinner I'm speaking at along with Tiger Williams and Matt Dominguez on January 14!  The ticket info is on the poster ...

Have fun this week Rod! As for me, I have to remind myself there is a Grey Cup game this week, it really means nothing to me. The one good thing that comes out of the next MMG is that this horrible season will be over and all teams are starting over. Looking forward to next year!

Welcome to Toronto Rod, it's true there's no signage or banners anywhere Downtown Toronto regards to Grey Cup, this would be opposite in Regina and elsewhere. Marketing here is terrible except for great TV commercials. Sadly Toronto does not deserve to host the Cup anytime soon. But we'll be at the game. Hope to see you around.

I also have zero interest in the Cup this year. The whole league has known since Labour Day that the Stamps are Champs. Really makes a guy lose a lot of interest. Reminds me of the Eskimos dynasty where it was a foregone conclusion that they would win every time.

After Arash had a few, any explanation from him as to why Sportsnet hates the CFL so much? Glen Suitor had a good point yesterday: you don't see TSN trashing the Blue Jays (whom are SN exclusive) like SN trashes the CFL (TSN exclusive). There's barely any mention of the Grey Cup on their programming and they do it on purpose. A group of fans should park a half ton in front of the Rogers studios and do some tailgating. Crank Green is the Colour up loud, have some fun, etc. That'll piss those snobs off.

This whole narrative from them about "wanting to cover the best" and "inferior product" is a bunch of malarkey. If that's the case then why do they cover MLS when the best soccer players are elsewhere? Or why is college football a religion in the states when the top players play in the NFL? It's like one reporter said, these guys have an agenda to hate the CFL and it's the hill they'll die on. If the top NFL starts played in a CFL game, these haters still wouldn't watch just cause it says CFL. Sure the CFL isn't perfect but show me a league that is. The CFL is a great way to bring Canadians together from across the country. Would it kill Dean Blundell or Tim and Sid to put on an Argos t-shirt or whomever and go party with other fans? Oh but it's an inferior product, its not the best players, can't be associated with that. What a crock of garbage. Might as well call Shaun Semple and tell him to not bother with the Memorial Cup bid either cause it's not the best hockey players in the world.

Gunderson's Yorkton

Hmmm, there's a lot of baseball on TSN. Yes, the Jays aren't on there, but they are a part of MLB and the last time I looked Toronto was a part of MLB.

How much coverage does TSN give us of the Grand Slam of Curling---you know something exclusive to SNET.

Someday you might understand things Gunderson, but living in Yorkton I have my doubts.

Have fun in Toronto Rod. Sara looks as great as always. Ran into her at a Jets game last month. You don't find much better than her!

Those Grey Cup jerseys look like Winnipeg Jets home jerseys.

Yes Murray i have been in your fair city and noticed how smart one gets by just breathing the air there and mingling with people like yourself who are so much more educated then the rest of us humble beings who are unlucky enough not to live in your fair city. Thanks for at least sharing some space on this blog with us less educated people
