PRESEASON: TIGERS 5 PATS 2
The Tigers used a strong opening period to take a 2-0 lead. Dylan MacPherson scored early and then Ryan Jevne stole a pass in the slot with 2:05 left in the frame for the 2-0 goal.
The Pats responded early in the second when Austin Wagner stole a puck in the neutral zone and used his speed to get away and then ripped a shot into the top of the net to make it a 2-1 game. Medicine Hat restored their two goal advantage at 10:15 when Mason Shaw finished off a 3 on 2 rush at 10:15 and it was 3-1. John Dahlstrom then tipped one home on a point shot to make it 4-1. On a late, powerplay Matt Bradley scored and it was 5-1 Tigers after 40.
In the third the Pats struck shorthanded when Sam Steel set up Nick Henry on a nice play and it was 5-2. That was all the scoring for the contest and the Pats fell to 2-2-0-0 in the pre-season.
- Nick Henry scored his team leading third goal of the pre-season.
- Austin Wagner scored his first pre-season goal of the year.
- The Pats penalty kill was 4 for 5 with a short-handed goal.
The Pats are right back at it against the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday night at the Brandt Centre. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. with tickets available at the door for $8 each plus service fees.
