PATS DAY 1 TRAINING CAMP RECAP
"I think any first day you see a lot of positives, you believe you see a lot of positives,” said Pats Head Coach and GM John Paddock. “I think there was a lot of energy in the veterans game and there was some good performances and there was some probably so-so ones."
Things got started with a rookie scrimmage between Team White taking on Team Navy. Navy would take it 6-1 on the strength of goals from Spencer Weinkauf, Owen Williams (2G), Mackenzie Belinski, Cam Mitchell and Sheydon Woodhouse. Team White’s lone goal came from Reese Jackson.
Made up of veterans, Team Light Blue and Team Red each skated separately in practices.
The late afternoon session started with Team Navy playing Team White in the second rookie scrimmage of the day. Navy would take the second meeting 6-3. They got goals from Colin Cook, Aaron Yuke, Randen Schmidt, Cole Muir, Duncan Pierce and Jack Lenchyshyn. For Team White, Dawson Barteaux, Lukus Sillinger, and Logan Nijhoff.
In the prime time scrimmage for the veterans, Light Blue got two first period goals from Connor Hobbs and Keigan Callander. However, Red outshot Light Blue 17-9 in the period.
In the second, Robbie Holmes got Team Red on the board to make it 2-1. However, Light Blue scored three straight from Braydon Buziak, Rykr Cole and Dawson Leedahl to make it 5-1.
In the third, last year’s league scoring champ Adam Brooks scored, and assisted Lane Zablocki to pull Team Red within two at 5-3. However, Dawson Leedahl scored his second of the game to give Light Blue the 6-3 advantage. Later, Buziak, Chase Harrrison Rykr Cole and Sam Steel all added markers to solidify the 9-3 victory for Light Blue.
