RED SOX 7 BULLS 6
Ben Schweinfurth made his third start of the season for the Red Sox. The junior from Southern Oklahoma State provided 6.2 strong innings before giving way to Seth Sorensen, who picked up the Red Sox win. Sam Brunner pitched the final five outs of the game to record his team best fourth save.
Lethbridge countered with starter Luc Herbert, who lasted just 3.1 innings. Reliever Landen Bourassa pitched three innings and was tagged with the loss.
The Red Sox offense came to life when they scored five runs in the fourth inning to erase a 3-0 deficit and grab the lead. A run in the fifth increased the Red Sox advantage to 6-3. Lethbridge battled back with three in the seventh to tie the game. Regina regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the seventh and held on for the 7-6 win.
Derek Slate led the Red Sox attack with three hits and a RBI. Regina fans welcomed back Gabriel Montero, who made his season debut at second base. The WMBL veteran reached base three times on a hit and two walks while scoring two runs.
This was the final game of a long six game Saskatchewan road trip for the Bulls. They ended the tour with a 4-2 record.
450 fans enjoyed the Red Sox fifth win of the young WMBL season.
