RIDERS ACQUIRE COLEMAN FROM ESKS

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have acquired the CFL playing rights to international offensive lineman Thaddeus Coleman from the Edmonton Eskimos.
In exchange, the Riders have sent two players from the team's negotiation list to the Eskimos.

Coleman (6'8 – 320 lbs) with be entering his fourth CFL season after originally signing with Edmonton in June, 2013. Through his first three seasons the 30-year-old product of Mississippi Valley State has started all 21 games played spending time at right and left tackle.

He won his first career Grey Cup last season as a member of the Eskimos.

Odd way of putting it: 'Acquired his CFL playing rights'. Does that mean he may not play here?

Might be taking a shot at the NFL?

He's the guy who manhandled John Chick like a discarded ragdoll.

Not under contract so we obtain his negotiation rights. Edmonton prob wasn't able to agree on a contract so now they get something for him

Just so you all know...Coleman has only played 3 games in the past two years, so no he isn't taking a shot in the NFL and he wasn't one of our starters. Also so you know Edmonton signed an Offensive lineman straight after they traded Coleman. He is what you rider fans call over the hill right...30? Brutal Saskatchewan

What if the ragdoll hadn't been discarded? Then how would he have been handled?

A RB at 30 is over the hill. A receiver is starting to slow down. Defensive lineman start to get hurt more often. And not so good Olineman get beat more often. I'm sure that Jones signed Coleman as a back up to the 1 and only starting international Olineman the Riders have. Who knows what they will pay him. Only Jones knows for sure. I can guarantee That this guy is not a starter.
Also 2 neg players could be players that don't even want to play in the CFL. So the whole deal is boring at best!

I believe if he's not under contract he would be a free agent and free to sign and or negotiate with anyone?
