A 3-2 shootout loss to the visiting Swift Current Broncos denied the Regina Pats the opportunity to clinch a playoff Friday night in the Brandt Centre.

After a scoreless first period, the Pats led 2-1 after 40 minutes thanks to a pair of goals by Adam Brooks and Cole Sanford.  The goal by Brooks extended his point streak to 17 games.

However the Broncos' Jon Martin proved to be the hero on Friday, tying the game at 2-2 just 0:22 in to the third period on the powerplay.  After a scoreless overtime session, Martin was the only player to score as the Broncos netted a 3-2 walk-off victory.

Pats snipers Sanford, Brooks and Sam Steel were all stymied in the shootout.

The goaltenders were busy in this one, as Regina's Tyler Brown made 43 saves in the loss while Swift Current's Travis Child made 46 stops to earn the win.

The attendance was 4915.

The Pats are home again on Sunday at 4:00 pm when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings on 620 CKRM.
