SaskRush.com
SASKATOON (CP) - Corey Small scored five times as the Vancouver Stealth toppled the Saskatchewan Rush 13-11 on Friday night in National Lacrosse League action at the SaskTel Centre.

It was the first-ever professional lacrosse game played in Saskatchewan after the NLL-champion Rush relocated from Edmonton this summer.

Jordan Durston, Joel McCready and Rhys Duch all had a pair of goals for the Stealth (1-1). Travis Cornwall and Logan Schuss had the others, with Eric Penney making 36 saves for the win in net.

Chris Corbeil and Robert Church both scored hat tricks for Saskatchewan (1-1). Zack Greer and Curtis Knight struck twice each, with Mark Matthews adding the other. Aaron Bold turned away 23 shots in the loss.

Vancouver scored three times on four power plays, with the Rush converting twice on three chances with the man advantage.

The attendance was 9,147.

Decent crowd of 9,000+ for franchise first ever game, next home game maybe 5,000.

How did fans enjoy the experience? Did it live up to the hype?

Great time, I predict at least 10,000 fans next game after word gets out on how much fun these games are. Despite the loss, fans left happy after experiencing the party like atmosphere. I for one will be making the trip to Saskatoon again for another game.

Great comment Tyler. Thanks for sharing. It would be nice if everyone could make this a positive thing for the province and not making it a constant attendance issue. We want fans from Regina to come up for as many games as they can make it to. I am definitely going with a large group of people to a game and hopefully more after that. Don't know a whole lot about it but willing to check it out for sure. Anyone else wishing to share their experience please post as well. Darren M

The idiot who keeps using the name 'sliders' needs to get a life. We get it that Edmonton lost its coaches and lacrosse team and you are peed off. Grow up!

Never went to the game in Saskatoon, but took in a Roughnecks game years ago, and the atmosphere was great. Well over 10,000 in attendance. The relaxed atmosphere with non stop play is nice. Was like a party almost. If the Rush games are the same, then crowds should grow after some people take in a game.

A slider is a mini burger, but how would you know if your not old enough to get into a pub! Anyway, not much of an insult!

First off lets not get too mad at the little anon calling us all Sliders, he has just followed in the families footsteps of leaving school and the trailer park in Grade 9, buying a fancy pair of white sunglasses and find a job on the "rigs". Now that the lifelong dreams of Ed Hardy tshirts and jacked up pickups is dead he is left with an empty feeling and needs to lash out at someone...

Now as for the actual topic here. The Rush game was great, it is truly something everyone needs to go check out! I am a big lacrosse fan but went with some friends that had never followed the sport. In the end we said it is like watching NBA live. I am not a basketball fan but the NBA has a great way of keeping energy up in the stadium and the NLL has taken note of it! There were a few first game hickups (Mics didnt work, Canada flag was upside down, the DJ "scratching" David Bowie mix) but for the most part it seemed to go well. It is a very exciting game and it was a great atmosphere!

PS to little Annon...

"Sliders" are what built the province of Alberta, without the lovely people from other provinces that came to Alberta to pick up the slack for the last 30 years you would not have all the nice Tim Hortons that you are now applying at for a job....

Been A long Time Rod but I couldnt keep quite anymore!!
