ONE PAT, THREE WARRIORS NAMED TO TOP PROSPECTS GAME
Moose Jaw Warriors forwards Brett Howden and Noah Gregor and goaltender Zach Sawchenko, have been selected to take part in the 2016 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game January 28th in Vancouver.
Sawchenko was selected by the Warriors in the 2nd round of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. This season he has played in 27 games, posting a record of 15-8-2-1 along with a 2.90gaa, a .917sv%, and one shutout. Sawchenko has played in 102 WHL games and has a record of 45-43-4-2, he also has a career 3.27gaa, a .900sv%, and five shutout. Sawchenko won gold with Hockey Canada at the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, and he captured bronze with Hockey Canada at the 2015 World Under-18 Championships.
Brett Howden was selected fifth overall by the Warriors in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. In 36 games this season he has 15 goals, 18 assists, 33 points, and 33 penalty minutes. As a 16-year-old rookie last season, Howden had 22 goals, 24 assists, and 46 points in 68 games. Howden was named Captain for Canada at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament where they captured a gold medal. He was an underage player to make Canada’s roster for the 2015 World Under-18 Championships where they won bronze.
Noah Gregor was originally drafted by Victoria in the third round of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft and was acquired by the Warriors in January 2014. In 40 games this season he has 16 goals and 37 points and is third in team scoring. Gregor was named to Canada Red for the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, but missed the tournament due to an injury.
Gregor, Howden, and Sawchenko are all eligible for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Howden will be on Team Orr while Gregor and Sawchenko will be on Team Cherry.
