Regina, Saskatchewan - The Western Hockey League announced today Regina Pats forward Adam Brooks is the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 3, 2016.  Regina Pats Head Coach and General Manager John Paddock also announced Brooks is to serve as Captain while Colby Williams is out of the lineup indefinitely recovering from surgery.

“John (Paddock) put it in me to take over that leadership role while Colby is out,” said Brooks.  “It’s an honour and a privilege to get to wear (the ‘C’) while he’s out and follow up some of the leaders I’ve played behind.”

Brooks recorded 10 points (2g-8a) to go along with a plus-7 rating in four games to lead the Blue and White to a record of 2-1-0-1 for the week.

On Tuesday, December 29 against the Saskatoon Blades, Brooks notched three points (1g-2a) and a plus-2 rating to claim first star honours in their 3-1 victory. The following night against the Prince Albert Raiders, Brooks recorded his second consecutive three-point game with three assists in the Pats 6-5 shootout loss. On Friday, January 1 against the Swift Current Broncos, Brooks scored the overtime winner to guide the Pats to a 4-3 win. Brooks also tallied two assists for his third straight three-point effort and was named the game’s first star. On Sunday January 3, Brooks capped off the week with an assist against the Prince Albert Raiders as Regina fell by a score of 7-3.

The 19-year-old Winnipeg, MB native has collected 60 points (21g-39a) in 40 games this season to sit second overall in scoring amongst all WHL skaters. The 5-10, 175 lb forward is in his fourth WHL campaign with Regina and has amassed 145 points (59g-86a) in 219 career WHL regular season contests.
