NEW MOSAIC STADIUM CONSTRUCTION PHOTOS

The good folks at the City of Regina were nice enough to invite us down on Wednesday for an update on the construction of New Mosaic Stadium.  To date, the facility is 41% complete and on time for its opening in August of 2016.   Here's an impressive look at the eastside progress..

An eastside view from the north end of the structure...

The north building.  This will house the Rider Store, ticket office and Rider office space..

Here's what's going on in the bowl, which isn't visible from outside the PCL fences...

The westside is coming along nicely too..

Some of the 250 workers on site working atop the eastside of the facility...

A view from the upper concourse from the eastside.  The Roughriders will enter the field from that blue and black area in the northwest corner.  The Rider locker room will be underneath the westside stands. The turf will be 30 feet below ground level...

Here is a view of the upper concourse, behind the eastside's upper deck...

A shot of the Grand Ol' Lady and beautiful downtown Regina...

Cant wait. Can you imagine hot water in the bathrooms!!

But there has always been warm water in the Mosaic washroom, although it was mostly bladder produced and mostly recycled beer.

Thanks Rod. That's exciting.

Truly awesome to watch the progress, can't wait to see the finished stadium. I have to say the old stadium atmosphere was pretty awesome but change is good.

Fans from other provinces have been contacting me for pics. A couple of weeks ago, I got as close as I could and took a few shots to send to them. These are way better!

Mixed feelings. I too will like some modern amenities. But i will miss the sea of green when i watch the replays when i get home.... Just a mass of humanity....will not get that in the new place. What happens to the optomist club, etc? Can they still sling beers or with evraz is that now a union job? I will miss looking down and thinking of all the great plays and players i have watched and how every roughrider ever has played on that field. Lorne richardsons one handed catch in the 76 west final.
Joey walters one handed grab in the south endzone. Ken clark kicking the labour day winner when paul watson got hurt and the day after his mother died. Lyall the woz doing the woz. Macoritti kicking the ball out of the endzone to beat edmonton and ending his career. Bagg walking off to a thunderous ovation when we thought he had blown out his knee again. Mike samples singing the milk commercial and wearing the white moustache. Roy brown announcing a lucky pompom number for a tundra sweater. Blackouts and thunderstorms. The rider taxi squad playing on roughriders from their spot in the west side stands. Unreal sunsets looking to the west. The times it was so bad that the crowd cheered a plastic bag blowing the length of the field for a touchdown or a rabbit on the field also running for a touchdown, the old "players" manual scoreboard, the rider rookie section, john herrera hung in effigy, holding up placards when the nfl was on strike and nbc televised games from taylor field, cam wake and the beer throwing, being stuffed in a row with parkas on on,y to look up to see yet another person that needed to squeeze into the row, the rider ripple, going with my dad and ducking along with thousands of other people under the trains parked on the tracks in order to get to the stadium, the snowbirds flying over, bobby hosea and his right hook, milson jones running between the tackles, my dad having one ticket but pushing me through the line and telling me to run up the stairs and wait, tare rennebohm, normie fong, the great ronnie, and the great george......

It is time but we are losing something unreal. And when we are sitting there in our extra wide seats with a cup holder and looking at all the company seats that used to be my 55 yard kine seat - i will sometimes long for the days of whacking my knee against the steel post in the row up front, sticking to the person next to me or simply the sheer excitement of seeing taylor field in the distance and seeing it come closer and closer as you walk towards it and know that it is my ancestors, my parents and my kids learning grounds for their love of this team.

And obama....we're having a party tonight and your not invited.
