The Regina Thunder scored three first quarter touchdowns and never really looked back in a 42-23 PFC season-opening win over the Calgary Colts Sunday at Mosaic Stadium.
Veteran Thunder quarterback Asher Hastings was 14/17 for 262 yards and four touchdowns in his season debut. Two of those TD passes were caught by Jacob Carr while Will Heward and Brady Keller each had one.
Hastings came out in the fourth quarter and his replacement, Kyle Siemens, went 1/3 for four yards. First-year receiver Trysten Dyce (son of Roughrider assistant coach Bob Dyce) caught one pass for four yards.
The Thunder led 21-3 after one quarter, 35-6 at the break and 42-13 going into the fourth quarter.
Regina (1-0) hosts the Saskatoon Hilltops (1-0) next Saturday at 7 pm at Mosaic Stadium.
