PATS MOVES

Regina, Saskatchewan –The Regina Pats Hockey Club has completed a trade with the Calgary Hitmen.  The Pats acquire 18-year old forward Carson Samoridny and a fourth round pick in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft in return for nineteen year old forward Colten Mayor.

Samoridny adds size to the Pats lineup standing 6'3" and weighing in at 205 lbs. In 40 games this season with the Hitmen, the St. Albert, Alberta product has fifteen points (7G, 8A).

Acquired earlier in the season from the Red Deer Rebels, Mayor totaled nineteen points (9G, 10A) in 33 games in Regina.
______

Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats Hockey Club has announced the reassignment of two forwards to reach the roster limit of 25 players.  Adam Rossignol will be reassigned to the BCHL while Filip Vasko will return to his club team in Slovakia.

Rossignol came to the Pats from the Swift Current Broncos prior to the start of the regular season and suited up for all 44 games with the Pats this season.  The Surrey, B.C. native scored nine goals and added five assists for the Pats this season.

Vasko was acquired by the Pats in a recent deal with the Red Deer Rebels and didn't see any game action in Regina.

The Pats thank both Adam and Filip for their contributions to the organization and community during their time in Regina and wish them the best going forward.

The Vasko trade didn't produce any results for the Pats. This thing about conditioning is now in question. If the injury was serious then I am sure the Pats will be seeking compensation for Vasko. McCoy and a draft pick is pretty light for Volek's rights.

Is that it for the Pats? Sheesh!

Once again, Remple has to steal the show and punk a guest of yours. If I was Getzlaf, I'd have hung up on you. Give Remple his own show and bring some decorum back to yours. The guy is just using you to try and become a star! This just in, its not working!

I actually like Mayor, crashed the net hard and had scored some goals!
Rossignol getting sent down is a little surprising as well, thought he had been playing alright!

Still a team of 19+20 year olds. Can hardly wait till next season and see what we do not have on the ice, when these guys move on.

Money issue for Parker, lets see how far we can go with the team that we have, pretend that we are good, get gate revenue and next season when we do not have a team call it a rebuilding year and start from the bottom.

Increase in season ticket prices are on the horizon for next season.Chad to bad Brent is running the team and not you!

Getting Samoridny is OK. We got a big winger who was only 18 along with a 4th round draft pick for a guy who likely wopuldn't be an overage here next season. It seems we end up very short on the Volek deal with Vasko being sent home.

There were some winners and losers I think. Big winner was Kelly McCrimmon. He got a first rounder for Ferland who has an injury. Molleken paid a 1st rounder for Ferland as well as Collin Vallcourt but the Pats couldn't get that for Scheidl? Obviously the big loser was Molleken who is going for broke. One has to wonder considering how his teams usually choke. It is likely his last hurrah as the Blades will be crap for years.

Then you have the stupids like the PG Cougars who were apparently close to a deal with the Pats for Forsberg. The Pats need another high end 17 yr old forward and were offering big time to get him. I read the they thought they had a deal when PG pulled out. Forsberg is not going to report to PG and that only means his value will drop again by the off season. That PG organization is proving they are as bad as it gets.

I don't think this was a good day for the Pats or their fans. If this team fails to make the playoffs with its older lineup it will be another lost opportunity. As a season ticket holder and avid fan I don't feel encouraged after todays events.

@ Dan

That statement is bang on. This team is nowhere near enough to go the distance. Think where it would be had they traded Eberle and Weal, and what you'd have coming up.

Todd Ripplinger's guys are performing, but they are moving on and the pipeline is now empty. It's just a matter to get into that first round and then get some gate revenue. Pat has shown he can make chicken salad so he should dust off his resume, and head to the NHL entry draft and find a team to hire him. Chad should start doing the Joe McGrath and go on road trips to, "well I wanted to meet you boys face to face."

Read Tim Green's Dark Side of the Game. It starts at the top with Ownership. The Hockey Ops did their best.

If you so called hockey know it alls just count how many 19 and 20 year olds we have. We have three 20 year olds and next year we will have six. Why sell the farm now when we are in a position to make the playoffs. Why trade this years 20 year olds when you are not going to get much for them and also a lot of teams have their 20 year old spots sewn up and are not looking for our twenty year olds. I think Chad knows what he is doing. I don't think Brent is interfering at all. Chad will deal with our 6 20 year olds we will have next year. maybe he saw no value in moving them and what would you get back a third or fourth liner. Im glad he is sticking to his guns and does not want to disrupt the team.

They raise season ticket prices and I cancel my 4 forever

Where were the 19+20 year old leaders in the 9-4 loss to PA?If that was leadership WOW! and going to get a playoff spot rethink your hockey knowledge.Makes a lot of sence to have a ton of older players who have shown no sign of leadership so far this season. If older players show no signs of value with their playing ability they are a real easy product to trade.YEA!Mike what a stupid comment.

Maybe we just over-valued our older players and there was no market for them this late in the season. Regardless, I was glad to see Chad not move any young assets or draft picks.

It's not just about having 19 year olds, it's abouat having quality 19year olds. The main reason we didn't make more trades is that nobody wanted our 19 or 20 year olds. Molleken got three yesterday but he didn't want any of ours. Lang had to trade one and release two. There were no home for those guys. Why did we have them?

Jay Merkley was had for very little. A quality 17 yr old we should have tried to get. Getting Forsberg as well would have made us a powerhouse in two years. WE needed two quality 17 year old forwards to go with Klimchuk.

In two years when Klimchuk is tearing it up we need two more like him. This always only having one good player at a time is killing us. It would be nice becomming a powerhouse again. It's better than just trying to make the dance or selling your best players and hoping for down the road.

To the second last poster you rethink your hockey knowledge. Like no leadership I don't know what game you are watching or do you go to any games. Klimchuk is a leader, sheidl is a leader, chandler stephenson and Matt Hewitt are leaders What do you do sell the farm? No. They lost one game in five or six tries. Maybe listen to the brouadcast of the game. Many of the players were suffering the flu and they are playing the raiders here not the kootenay ice.If you pay attention they beat PA the week before in their own rink. How could they be a real easy product to trade if the market was not their for them. Chad is not going to make a trade unless he is going to get something worthy in return. Maybe listen to the sportscage and chad will tell you. What are you one of these couch potato GMs. Ya what a stupid post you made.

At some point the Pats are going to have to bite the bullit. We need to sell some older assets to accumulate enough talent in the same age bracket. Obviously the deadline has come and gone but perhaps in the off season. We need to pursue Forsberg again, however he wont be worth what he was yesterday. We then need to find one more quality 17 year old forward. That will require moving a good 19 or 20 year old. It will also need a draft pick. These patchwork teams Chad is putting out each year isn't good enough. They resmble too closely what BP did when he was the GM. We should have been going younger with TALENTED young guys. Brandon stockpiled this year and will miss the playoffs. They wont next year and will likely be very strong and young. C'mon Chad. You worked with McCrimmon so start using his blueprint.

With three 19 year olds leaving yesterday the Pats only have four left.

Fenske, Ouellette, Stevenson and Sylvegard.

Vasko never even suited up, don't really think he fit this lineup well, just had to be moved by RD to make space for Volek.

When McCoy gets back, where was Rossignol going to fit? That fourth line has been on a roll with Christoffer, D'Amico and Gay. Samoridny will likely play on the third line probably with Sylvegard going to the second. Maybe even the other way around. Still got to get the young guys into the lineup as well.

I would say the Pats positioned themselves decently for next year as we can pretty much predict who the 20's will be next year from that group.

With 3 20's graduating and one out of that group of 19's going to be released that's only 4 players departing because of graduation/overage situation. This means instead of trying to fill spots like this season, the Pats will have true competition for spots at camp next year.

The trade yesterday recouped the 4th rounder they shipped to RD for Mayor AND added a younger/bigger roster player.

It's too bad the Forsberg deal didn't work out, but the Pats would have probably been giving up some very big assets in that trade so maybe in the end it was okay anyway. Who knows? Maybe they get something done at the draft.

To the idiot anon above who slammed Remple for asking Getzlaf a tough question... GET A LIFE! I applaud Kelly for having the balls to ask the guy a tough, logical question. And obviously Roddy feels that his presence on the show "is working" because Rod himself even congratulated Remple for asking it. Rod probably LOVES it when his co-hosts ask those questions so he doesn't have to be the bad cop.

OMG - If NHL players are so ftricking soft that they can't handle a tough question, then go cry somewhere else.

I agree with the last couple posters. Chad is repairing the damage left by parker's tenure. They did good yesterday .they did not give up anything to get something like size thats what we need right now.

Yeah I don't see why the above poster had ANY issues with the Silver Fox' question to Getzlaf. It was not at all disrespectful, but a fair question.

I guess you'll always have people who would rather have a "love-in" every week on the show, but myself, I like it when hosts aren't afraid to make people accountable, and show some balls.

Good for you Kelly. Ignore the hippies.

LMAO at the Getzlaf lover above. When guys making $5 million/year can't get asked questions without losers feeling sorry for them, then we wonder why our society is so messed up.
