MORE RIDER SIGNINGS

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that import running back Stephfon Green and import defensive back Ramzee Robinson have signed with the team.  Financial details were not released.

Green (5'9 – 200) returns to the Riders after spending the final two weeks of the season on the teams practice roster. Before coming North, the 23-year-old spent 2012 training camp with the Detroit Lions registering 7 carries for 95 yards and a touchdown in two preseason games.

The Bronx, NY native spent four seasons at Penn State, finishing his collegiate career with 285 rushing attempts for 1,351 yards and 14 touchdowns and added another 457 yards on 40 pass receptions.

Robinson (5'10 – 190) also returns to the Riders after spending time on the teams practice roster during the 2012 season. Previous to that, the 28-year-old spent time with Denver, Cleveland, Washington and Philadelphia throughout his NFL tenure after he was originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 7th round (255th overall) of the 2007 Draft.

The Alabama graduate appeared in 26 NFL regular season games recording 36 tackles, one pass knock down and one fumble recovery.

I'm going to be the first to ask it:

Rod, do think the Riders will try to sign Manti T'eo?

Not if his girlfriend has anything to say about it.

Don't hold your breath on T'eo being a first round pick; he will get drafted but a poor showing in the Sugar Bowl along with this story will have LOTS of teams taking a second thought.

Looking forward to seeing what Green does with a full training camp and pre-season.

players like Robinson are Chanblain's specialty. The bubble player that is good enough to play in the NFL but with only so many roster spots someone needs to get released to make room for the rookie prospect. Chamblain was one of those guys and came to Canada to play after spending quality time in the NFL. Robinson is a little older than the guys like sheets, Xavier Fulton, drew Willy but in an important year for the riders to get over the edge for the grey cup going with a little older experienced guy to sure up the secondary that never quite looked confortable.
Ahaad Carroll comes to mind with the Argos this yeat although even a lilttle older than Robinson Chris Jones wanted a true pro veteran back there and thought that Carrol could have at least one good season left and he sure did helping them to the Grey Cup Victory and retiring a happy Champion as some parts of his NFL career were not always rosey.

Still a little shocked that they let Ismael Bamba go before training camp. It has been said that he has not progressed as a receiver after spending a year on the practice roster.
With there need to find a return specialist with Bamba Being a non Import i thought it would be worth the training camp spot for him to work on being a return specialist with his experience at Sherby. Also there was talk of Adding him to the already great special teams coverage units as a gunner for Punts.
From playing a the end of his University career at sherbrooke where montreal holds TC and with Montreal also in need of upgrading its special teams in all areas i can see the Als adding him to their TC roster filling one of the NI spots. Having an NI return specialist could leave some roster flexibility elswhere and not need to use one of the DI spots for return teams
