FRIDAY RODSERVATIONS **UPDATE**

I promise this website isn't turning into a travel blog!  However here's another photo essay of our trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico which ends on Saturday:

There's a shot of our resort, the Playacar Palace, from the sea...

The week started off with the Harvard Broadcasting golf tournament.  I think Barney Shynkaruk's team won...

This was interesting.  This animal is called a "coaty" (pronounced KOH-Aye-Tee).  They have a habit of lurking in the trees and snatching food and bags out of golf carts and we were warned about them by the marshalls...

Never even heard of them before!

Yes, that's a crocodile (or alligator) lurking in the water along this fairway.  You see the head of my driver in the shot...

Never seen one before!  This is as close as I cared to get, rather than becoming Chubs Peterson from Happy Gilmore....

The lineup to get on the boat to the island of Cozumel.  It stretched for blocks.  The wait was longer than the ride (40 minutes)!

A member of the Mexican Navy.  That machine gun is real....

A tour bus in Cozumel...

This is not a statue!  That guy stands there all day looking like a statue and then starts moving for tips...

Our timing has never been good...

They spent the afternoon by the pool at the Cozumel Plaza.   Here Schultzie gets attacked by a crossdresser...

This is our sales manager Ron Ulmer getting attended to by medical personnel after "the incident".  Carm Carteri is in the shot as well, trying to translate....

Ronny gets cleaned up and bandaged.  The wound would later require 20-some stitches. **UPDATE** Since several folks are wondering what happened, Ronny played a practical joke on me.  He was laughing so hard he fell backwards off the curb and into traffic.  A truck missed squashing his melon by about half an inch.  As it was, a bicyclist went right over his head.  He was that close to meeting his maker.  But not on that day.

As we always say when you travel with me, be ready for anything.  But I gotta hand it to Ron Ulmer.  He's a tough one.  Big time.

Here's a shot for Whiter and the boys....

One last shot of Cozumel before boarding the ship back to Playa del Carmen....

More shots from along 5th Avenue...

On Wednesday the party started in the afternoon....

And stretched well into the night!!

Friends plays just about 24/7 on the hotel cable package with Spanish captions....

It's always easy to pick out the Europeans.   This guy's a dead-ringer for Paul Schaffer, the sidekick of David Letterman!
____________

And that's all for today!  What have I missed back home?  Despite the freezing temperatures, it'll be nice to get home Saturday night.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Wow, that is scary Roddy! Glad to hear things worked out the way they did.

Looks like you're having a great time down there. Always love going to Mexico.

Rider note. Can't wait to see Simon flexing those muscles after every TD he gets this year. Hopefully we seem lots of them this year.

That is all, enjoy the rest of your trip.

Hope the sales manager Is okay, that must of put a damper on all the fun. Sounds like it could have been a way more serious consequence, lucky him. Upper body Injury, plus medical bills. Take care people, get home safe.

We should have signed Romby Bryant instead of trading for Geroy. Getting Geroy is to appease fake Rider fans who want style over substance.

Have a great trip Rod!

While you have been away Ron Jeremy suffered a heart aneurysm requiring emergency surgery. He is apparently now resting comfortably at Cedars Medical Center in Los Angeles. Perhaps you could post the photo of the night you met him. I don't believe R.J will live long after this surgery as he's in pretty rough shape.

Any damage to the bicycle?

Jerry Rice caught 93 passes when he was 40 years old. I say Geroy has two good seasons left. He may be in his twilight part of his amazing career, but his hard work at staying in shape, his physical and mental skills on the field should prove to fans that he will be a great addition to the Rider's high power offense. The key will be staying healthy.

Don't ever compare Jerry Rice to Geroy Simon ever again! Thanks

Not a great idea to take pictures of police or their vehicles in Mexico. Some are paranoid about drug cartels and might take offence.

Geroy Simon is the CFL's version of Jerry Rice!

In the most literal sense that is how dumb people are. Comparing Geroy Simon to Jerry Rice. The only comparison you can draw is when Travis Moore wound it up here, and he was a bit player at the end.

T.M was healthy and had gas left in the tank. Geroy is broken down and this is yet another example where Wally dumps a guy a year before the expiry date and the Riders fall for it.....again.

If you can't find a Receiver as they have been trying for how many years now something is seriously wrong in the personell department. Last year not one of them stuck and they had "name" guys from the NCAA to guys coming in based on Youtube clips.

Sad really.

Don't ever put Jerry Rice and CFL in the same sentence ever again! Thanks

It would have been interesting to see how Jerry Rice would have performed on the the larger CFL gridiron. Would a 3000 yard season have been possible?
