FERLAND TO THE BLADES

Brandon, MB. - As the Western Hockey League Trade Deadline approaches the Brandon Wheat Kings and Blades have completed a deal that will see veteran left-winger Michael Ferland head to Saskatoon.

In exchange for the 20-year old Calgary Flames' prospect, the Wheat Kings get Saskatoon's first round pick in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.

The 6'1" 212 lb local product had one goal, two points and two minor penalties in four games after being reassigned to Brandon following the Christmas break.

Since joining the Wheat Kings as a 17-year old rookie in 2009-10, Ferland scored 182 points including eighty goals in 189 career games. As well, he accumulated 283 minutes in penalties during his three plus years in Brandon.

Prior to rejoining the Wheat Kings, Ferland had one assist in ten games played between the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Heat and ECHL's Utah Grizzlies.
