5 - Canada beats Finland 4-0 in Calgary to win World Junior bronze.  Later that night Sweden downs Russia 1-0 in overtime to capture gold
7 - George Cortez is hired to coach the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
16 - Former Rider linebacker Jerrell Freeman signs with the Indianapolis Colts
25 - Dysart, SK's Schad Richea of the Calgary Flames is named to the therapy team for the NHL All-Star Game in Ottawa
31 - Dan Plaster resigns as voice, and communications manager, of the Regina Pats to take a position with the Roughriders

5 - Rick Hansen rolls through Regina on the anniversary of his Man In Motion Tour
8 - The Riders announce their 2012 coaching staff with new faces Khari Jones, Jason Tucker, Kris Sweet and Barron Miles
10 - The Riders announce the franchise's second all-time leading rusher Wes Cates won't be back for 2012
14 - Pat Fiacco announces he won't seek re-election as Mayor of Regina
15 - The Riders sign DB Paul Woldu while former Rider receiver Cary Koch signs in Edmonton
16 - Riders sign linemen Brendon Labatte and Dominic Picard.  BC signs RB Stu Foord
17- Former Rider Andy Fantuz signs with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.  Fantuz said at the time, "“It definitely wasn’t about the money. It’s about winning championships, the football aspect, coach (George) Cortez, the fans in the city."
28 - Riders sign quarterbacks Colt Brennan and Drew Willy

1 - TSN's Bob McKenzie reports a group from Saskatoon approached the NHL about franchise relocation
2 - Wally Buono wins CFL Coach of the Year
6 - Regina's Lingerie Football League team announces its name as "The Rage"
10 - The Regina Pats end a 3-year drought by clinching a playoff spot with a 5-4 home victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors
12 - Wilcox, SK's Jaden Schwartz signs with the St. Louis Blues
15 - Tiger-Cats release former Rider DE Stevie Baggs
20 - Riders sign quarterbacks Levi Brown and Matt Johnson and release veteran pivot Cole Bergquist
21 - Blue Bomber defensive lineman Doug Brown retires
22 - Riders acquire DE Odell Willis from Winnipeg
31 - Moose Jaw Warriors beat Regina 5-2 to win their first round series in five games

9 - U of R Cougars mens hockey team hires Todd Johnson as head coach
11 - Former Rider DL coach Mike Scheper joins the staff of Portland State
12 - Calgary Flames part ways with coach Brent Sutter
15 - Riders sign quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan and release DT Dario Romero
21 - Blue Jays great Jesse Barfield is the keynote speaker at the Regina Red Sox fundraising dinner
23 - Riders acquire OT Xavier Fulton from Edmonton for a 6th round pick in the 2013 Draft
25 - Receiver Jason Clermont retires from the CFL after a star-studded 10-year career in which he was twice named the league's Most Outstanding Canadian
25 - Riders open mini-camp in Regina
27 - Riders announce contract extensions for Darian Durant and Chris Best

3 - Riders select U of S lineman Ben Heenan with the #1 pick in the 2012 Draft
3 - Pats select defenceman Brady Reagan from Okanagan Falls with their first pick in the WHL Draft
13 - Penticton Vees win the Royal Bank Cup with a 4-3 win over Woodstock in Humboldt
13 - Edmonton Oil Kings win the WHL championship with a 4-1 win over Portland in Game 7
16 - Brandon Wheat Kings fire coach Cory Clouston
17 - Edmonton Oilers fire coach Tom Renney
23 - Gary Etcheverry is hired to coach the Ottawa GeeGees
27 - Shawinigan wins the Memorial Cup with a 2-1 win over London in Shawinigan
31 - Riders open rookie camp at the U of R

3 - Day 1 of Riders main training camp at U of R
9 - Rider GM Brendan Taman signs a one-year contract extension
11 - LA Kings win the Stanley Cup with a 6-1 victory over New Jersey in Game 6
14 - BC Lions rout Saskatchewan 44-10 in preseason Game 1
20 - Riders sign receiver Chris Getzlaf to a contract extension
22 - Calgary Stampeders beat the Riders 33-31 in preseason Game 2
30 - Riders dump Hamilton 43-16 in Week 1 of the CFL season (1-0)

8 - Riders beat Edmonton 17-1 at Mosaic Stadium (2-0)
15 - Riders beat BC 23-20 at Mosaic Stadium (3-0)
17 - Riders sign receiver Terrence Jeffers-Harris
18 - Dwayne Gylywoychuck is hired as coach of the Brandon Wheat Kings
18 - Receiver Rob Bagg goes on the 9-game injured list
20 - Stampeders beat the Riders 41-38 in overtime in Calgary (3-1).  Riders blow a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter and coach Corey Chamblin vows it won't happen again.
29 - Riders blow a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter and Hamilton beats Saskatchewan 35-34 in Regina (3-2)

6 - Riders sign kicker Sandro Deangelis
10 - Eskimos down the Riders 28-20 in Edmonton (3-3)
15 - Regina Pats sign GM Chad Lang to a contract extension
16 - Regina Red Sox repeat as WMBL champs with a 7-3 win at Medicine Hat in Game 4
20 - BC dumps the Riders 24-5 at BC Place (3-4)
23 - Regina Pats announce contract extensions for their coaching staff
25 - Paul Lapolice is fired as coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after a 2-6 start
25 - Stampeders down the Riders 17-10 (3-5).  Chris Getzlaf is booed at Mosaic Stadium
29 - Riders sign linebackers Diamond Ferri and Joe Lobendahn

2 - Saskatchewan blasts Winnipeg 52-0 in the Labour Day Classic (4-5)
6 - Stampeders sign DE Stevie Baggs
9 - Saskatchewan outlasts Winnipeg 25-24 in the Banjo Bowl (5-5)
16 - Montreal beats the Riders 28-17 as QB Drew Willy makes his first pro start (5-6)
19 - Rider coach Corey Chamblin guarantees Stamps running back Jon Cornish won't hit 100 yards rushing in their weekend meeting
23 - Saskatchewan 30 Calgary 25 (6-6)  Cornish has 67 yards rushing
24 - Cornish apologizes for "mooning" Rider fans at Mosaic Stadium

1 - Former Pats captain Brandon Davidson of the Oklahoma City Barons is diagnosed with testicular cancer
2 - U of R Rams beat U of S Huskies 31-9 in a snowy Canada West semifinal in Regina
3 - Lions 17 Riders 6 in Vancouver (8-10)
3 - Eric Tillman is fired as GM of the Edmonton Eskimos
10 - Calgary Dinos beat Regina Rams 38-14 in the Hardy Cup in Calgary
11 - Stampeders 36 Riders 30 in CFL WSF
25 - Argonauts beat Stampeders 35-22 in the 100th Grey Cup in Toronto

3 - Rider SB Weston Dressler is named a CFL 1st-Team All-Star
4 - Regina Red Sox hired Jay Livingston as coach
5 - Riders release assistant coaches Mike Walker, Alex Smith and Kris Sweet
6 - Scott MacAuley is hired as coach of the Regina Thunder
10 - Ed Hervey is hired as GM of the Edmonton Eskimos
