THE MONDAY MORNING GOALIE

POSTCARDS FROM DALLAS

We're down here in Dallas, Texas on Day 5 of the Sports Cage/Marlin Travel Ultimate Sports Trip II.   Here's what we've been up to:

The greatest stadium on the planet - Cowboys Stadium.   You're about to go inside this $1.2-billion structure....

A local tailgater was nice enough to pose for a shot...

Coach Landry...

Our friend Johan.  He says that hat was the best $17 he ever spent....

We ran into a Rider fan!  This guy wasn't even with us.   He's from Saskatoon and was down here for a quarter horse show....

Cracking the lid.   It only takes nine minutes to open...

The place went ape when they introduced Demarcus Ware...

Saturday night we were treated to the Mavericks and Pistons at American Airlines Center...

It is a real shame that the NHL season has been cancelled.  We were supposed to catch the Stars/Oilers and the Stars/Penguins...

Here's a stamp from a place called Cowboys.  It might be the greatest place on earth and we were there almost every night.  They play George Strait every third song!!  It brought a tear to my eye..

Part of our crew.  These guys just couldn't get enough of Hooters....

A few more photos from the stadium tour.  This is the Cowboy Club and if you notice, that's a football shape on the ceiling and the light fixtures are supposed to represent the laces...

Luxury suite..

If you can believe this is the vantage point from the Cowboys radio play-by-play booth.   Very bad..

Our field goal kicking contest at Cowboys Stadium...

And the winner ... Gerry Aquin of Regina....

One more of the greatest places on earth.  This is the Fort Worth Stock Yards...

It was emotional to be here.  I've been looking at photos of this street since I was little kid so it was amazing to actually be there...

The Cowboy Coliseum.  This place holds 6,000-8,000 people and they have a rodeo here in Fort Worth every Friday and Saturday night.  To put it in perspective, Regina has a rodeo once a year....

And finally, Billy Bob's.   It's attached to the rodeo arena.  At my Dad's behest we stopped to check it out.  How many fights do you think there's been in that parking lot over the past 150 years?
______

That's it for today!  Tune into the Sports Cage at 5:00 pm on 620 CKRM as we'll be broadcasting the show live from our Dallas hotel.

Drove to Moose Jaw for the Men's and Women's finals at the Canada Cup. Amazing facility, what else can you say? It really is awesome.

WELL DONE MJ! Setting an all-time attendance record with 33,000+ fans for the Canada Cup. Now they are getting Carrie Underwood etc. It is true, if you build it, they WILL come.

Congrats MJ!

See Rod all you need to do is talk to Mr. Dureau about including more George songs on his playlist during the weekends and maybe the Press Box can reclaim that title. Come to think of it, we tried that already.

Thankfully we have a rodeo only once a year. Brandt Centre reeked of horse sh*t for the Pats' games this weekend.

Hey Gored,

Are you talking about the actually smell or the Pats performance on the ice?
