CANADA'S FIRST CUTS

CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), announced Wednesday five players have been released from Canada's National Junior Team selection camp and will be immediately returning to their respective club teams:

Francis Beauvillier – F (Sorel-Tracy, Que./Rimouski, QMJHL)
Tyler Graovac – F (Brampton, Ont./Ottawa, OHL)
Sean Monahan – F (Brampton, Ont./Ottawa, OHL)
Adam Pelech – D (Toronto, Ont./Erie, OHL)
Derrick Pouliot – D (Weyburn, Sask./Portland, WHL)

Thirty-one players remain in camp, including four goaltenders, 10 defencemen and 17 forwards. These players are vying for 23 roster spots on Canada's National Junior Team at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship. Canada's roster announcement is planned for the evening of Dec. 13. All countries participating in the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship must submit their official roster on Dec. 25.
