BLADES 7 PATS 0

REGINA - The fur was NOT flying at the Brandt Centre Sunday afternoon. Brendan Walker scored twice and added two assists as the Saskatoon Blades demolished the host Regina Pats 7-0 in Western Hockey League play.

It was the second time in as many days that the Blades had full control as they blanked the Pats 9-0 on Saturday night in Saskatoon.

It was Global TV Teddy Bear Toss night in the Brandt Centre on Sunday as fans came to the game with the intention of tossing stuffed animals on the ice after the Pats' first goal. In a WHL-wide promotion, the toys are to be distributed to local charities. However Pats fans were forced to clutch the teddy bears until the end of the game before tossing them onto the ice.

Matej Stranksy and Josh Nicholls also scored twice for the the Blades (15-14-1) while Shane McColgan had a goal and an assist. Adam Kambeitz chipped in with three assists.

The Pats (11-18-4) are winless in seven straight outings.

Andrey Makarov made 22 saves for his league-leading fourth shutout of the season as Matt Hewitt picked up the loss after allowing five goals on 31 shots before being pulled midway through the second period. Teagan Sacher stopped 12-of-14 shots in 29 minutes of relief.

Saskatoon went 1 for 7 on the power play while Regina failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.

The Pats host P.A. on Thirsty Thursday in the Brandt Centre at 7 pm on 620 CKRM. 20 oz beers go for just $8.

I wouldn't want to be in Chad Lang's shoes right now. Lots of tough decisions ahead for him.

Breaking news. Pats fire head coach and replace him with obama.

Breaking New...fans are tired of hearing about the Obama clown and ask him to remove himself from all sports related topics, events, promotions. Thank you and that is all

Two consecutive large crowds with big promotions, two debacles. This organization is a COMPLETE wreck. Its sad how this program finds a way to outdue itself, and not good either.

TEADY BEAR FLOP!
If in the last three games if the Pats organization does not make some changes from players, yes and even coaches the train wreck will continue.

I do not want to here about all the injuries that the team has, so the coaches and Lang must fix the problem. If the neculas of the team is based on the six or so injured players to make this team survive than look out, coaches and the GM have failed.

Toady was the first time in a long time that being a Pats fan was embarassing. No player on that team wants to be there as lack of effort shows game in and game out and no accountability has been accepted by any player or coach.

The pressure on the two goaltenders is unfair to the two of them facing hundreds of shots in total in the last 10 games. If it was not for some stellar goaltending by both goaltenders this season what the hell would our record be.
Both goaltenders are carring this team and the bullshit must stop!no help from the defence, forwards not coming back or the wingers sitting at the blue line wating for a bump pass off the boards, oh yes that is how we move the puck out from our end over and over.
Does this coaching staff not see that or do they want to ignore it and it will go away.

Coaches it is time to start coaching and players it is time to start playing and if neither of the two can do that than Lang do your job and make some major changes.
As for the kids who have sat beside ous and said today why do we have to toss our teddy bears on the ice because the Pats did not score, was a sad state of affairs to witness.
As the one dad said to his son if you want something bad enough you will work hard for it and as you saw today the Pats did not want it bad enough to win.

I feel sorry for Conacher. He came here probably not knowing how bare the cupboards really were. Last year was a blip on the radar screen but we again have assumed our rightful position. In his post game comments the coach said that this team couldn't compete with the bigger more talented team. He was clearly alluding to the fact that his team is too small. Actually this is what he was talking about after being eliminated by Moose Jaw this spring. Did nobody hear him?

Most fans think significant moves have to be made. It's not like this team is loaded with great young talent. There some pieces but not near enough. We need to improve our defensive corps. We need to find some bigger players with a lot more heart than we witnessed today. Time to make some creative moves and give Coach Conacher something to work with. Regardless if they are looking short term or long term, you can't continue like this.

The Red Deer Rebels had worse injuries that the Pats (last year) and yes they struggled, but at least they were competitive. MJ at one point had 5-6 key injuries including Morgan Reilly (for the reg season), McIlrath, Kirsch, Wyton, and Howden for a month a World Juniors. Nobody made excuses, or felt sorry for them. The fact that we have NO DEPTH is shameful.

Its a very sad time in Patsville.

My teddy bear started with 10 fingers. But for every goal Saskatoon scored, I only had 3 fingers left. I still decided to throw the bear onto the ice. Hopefully the child that receives this bear will know someday the reason why it only had 3 fingers.

I will be selling the rest of my season tickets as I am tired of paying to watch this unentertaining and embarrassing team.

My friend with his wife and two young hockey fan sons left mid-third and took their bears with them. Said entire organization is a failure this season.

To TEDDY BEAR FLOP!

Are you frustrated and not thinking clearly or are you just a DOPE? This team's problems are clearly not in the coaching staff, as you've alluded to. I think that Coachs Conacher, Cameron and Dixon are doing a commendable job with the troops available. The only problems are size, skill and health of the players available.

The biggest of those problems is size at this point and it has showed clearly in the last 10 games. We are a team that is much too small for Major Junior hockey, and the those 10 games showed it in GF, GA, SOG and PTS.

The skill component in only apparent in about 3 or 4 players....Stephenson, Scheidl, Klimchuk and, to a lesser extent Dyson Stevenson and Emil Sylvegard. After that, we are a below average hockey for the Major Junior level.

As for the health of the team....well, that speaks for itself.

All I can say is Pat, Malcolm and Josh are NOT the problem with this year's version of the Pats and anybody who makes the idiotic statement to that effect is, in fact, an idiot.

I completely agree that Coaching is no where near the problem. I have gone to quite a few Pats games this season. Simply put they just don't have the talent. Conacher can put in any system he wants; which these kids try to play, but they just don't have the talent.

I do think they try and the effort is there, but at the end of the day they lose most of the one on one battles. Whether it's youth, injuries, what have you it's just not a talented team.

When they didn't trade Weal last season in order to satisfy Sponsors this really shouldn't be a surprise.

Third year of a rebuild and all they are proving is they are helping rebuild other teams.

Just read Harders blog. It appears that Nicholls of Saskatoon was shooting off his mouth about dominating the Pats in every way posible. The only problem is that the Blades, Nicholls, Molleken and crew have consistently been chokers for as long as I can remember including when he was here. There is no reason to believe that they won't choke again.

Clearly the Blasdes have a big team. So does PA and Swift Current. If the Pats want to compete they have to immediately look at increasing their size and toughness. That was something the team talked about after the end of last season. For some reason it was ignored.

Until this team shows a physical presence they will continually have sand kicked in their face. 9-2, 5-1, 9-0, and 7-0 are unacceptable in every way. There is no justification for those types of scores or the lack of guts shown by far too many passengers on this team.

When this team gets big enough and tough enough things will change. If the Blades or any other team wants to dance then we will dance. We will then be able to play any game in any rink. Our skill guys will have more room and feel protected. Back in the day Crawford looked after Derkatch every game. We need a fundamental shift away from these small teams which the Pats have been synonymous with for the last several years. It doesn't work. Unless a player is extremely gifted and shifty, he shouldn't be here. That is a comment attributed to a very successful GM in the BC Division. I personally never again want to see a Pats team that is intimidated or scared. We should have somebody on this squad who is able to feed Nicholls his words the next time they meet. Enough already!

I bet Todd Ripplinger just sees this and smiles!

Anonymous said...

Doubt it. They are mostly his guys.

Ripplinger is part of the problem.

If Ripplinger is laughing, he's laughing at his own incompetence.

This is the worst pats team that I've ever seen! When will things change with this franchise? Same garbage every season. More excuses than wins...

Anonymous said...

It never will change, EVER! Not until a specific transaction takes place.

To the Above Morgan - This is not by far the worst Pats team. You have to go back to 1976 & 1977 when the club had a 36 game win less streak. But 9-0 and 7-0 brother what can one say.

Go to the Regina Pats History/Alumni web site, today.

Oh where oh where did my little dog go, oh where oh where .....
