MY GREY CUP SO FAR!

The fog which delayed our arrival into Toronto on Wednesday is evident in this photo where you could not see the top of the CN Tower.  However the fog has lifted today and it's sunny and +12 degrees..

Grey Cup signage is evident everywhere you look.  Here's a banner welcoming Grey Cup visitors at the Toronto airport..

The media workroom in the Fairmont Royal York...

Two CFL power-brokers: Rider President Jim Hopson and CFL super agent Gil "Big Fresh" Scott.  They were having a meeting in the lobby of the Royal York...

Here we are prepping for Wednesday's Sports Cage at the Delta Chelsea.   From left: Lee Jones, Derek Meyers, Dave Ash from DASH Tours and me.

Our broadcast location at the Delta Chelsea.   Our special guest on the left is Stormin' Norm Rumack from Fan 590 radio.  He's a Toronto sports media icon...

"The Flame" Sandy Monteith dropped by our broadcast spot...

Two more special guests from Wednesday's Sports Cage: former Rider linebackers "Say Hey" Ray Bernard and Dan Rashovich...

More Grey Cup signage.  This is a billboard right outside my hotel room window....

There's no doubt where the Grey Cup will be played!  Here's the backside of Rogers Centre...

Oops!  Somebody crumped this street sign just outside Rogers Centre..

Argos practice Thursday morning at Rogers Centre...

The newest addition to the CFL on TSN panel, our old friend Paul Lapolice.  We had a long chat Thursday morning.   I'll discuss it in the Friday column...

A behind-the-scenes look at Rogers Centre...

Thursday has had some frustrations.  We are to broadcast Friday's Sports Cage from atop the CN Tower however when I showed up to check the broadcast line, it had not yet been installed.  Fingers crossed we'll get on the air Friday afternoon at the Riders In The Sky Grey Cup Kickoff Party...

A shot of Front Street which has been closed down for Grey Cup Festival celebrations...

John Street, just outside the CBC's headquarters.  They are setting up more Grey Cup fan exhibits...

And finally, Old City Hall in downtown Toronto.  It's a very impressive building.
______

That's it for now.  Tune into today's Sports Cage live from the 100th Grey Cup!

I find it amazing that you guys can set up and broadcast a radio show from darn near almost anywhere. Great job fellas. Looks like you're all having a great time. All these pics and stories are getting us pumped for the big game in the QC next year.

What gives with those delicate wusses at the Royal York not letting the horse in?? If their worried about the horse dropping a big deuce on the rug, have a rug doctor machine standing by and clean it up. It's not that hard! I'm certainly not cheering for Calgary but I love tradition and the horse in the hotel is one of the best. That horse had better be let into the Hotel Sask or wherever next year.

They'll let Meyers into the Royal York, but they won't let a horse in? What gives?

Why the Hell would you allow that Friggin Horse in if Calgary would not allow our "Gainer The Gopher" into their stadium. Let's just play that old game of Tit for Tat and keep the horse out of all the Grey Cup events.
After all Horse Shit is much bigger than a Gophers !! ( smile).

Aw come on Willy, that was six years ago. We proved our point by beating them in that game anyway. Horse in the lobby is a great tradition and I know the Regina hotels will be happy to have him. Kudos to the common sense people at the Royal York for letting the horse in finally.

Why not let the horse onto the field, you"re letting the two biggest horses asses onto it.

Great pics Rod. Question for you. What ever happened to the other half of one of the best QB's the Riders ever had, JJ Barnagle? Just wondering if he was still with us and if he ever showed at these things.
