LIONS 17 RIDERS 6

VANCOUVER -- The Saskatchewan Roughriders are carrying a four-game losing streak into the 2012 CFL playoffs.  The Riders dropped a 17-6 decision to the Lions in BC Saturday night to conclude the regular season at 8-10.  With the win the Lions finished a CFL-best 13-5.

Andrew Harris scored BC's lone touchdown on a first quarter 20-yard run.  Paul McCallum was 3/3 on field goals and added a punt single.  The Rider scoring came from a pair of Sandro Deangelis field goals.  Darian Durant got the night off at QB for Saskatchewan as Drew Willy played the first half and J.T. O'Sullivan the second.  BC led 7-0, 11-3 and 11-3 by quarters.

The Riders visit the 12-6 Calgary Stampeders in the 2012 CFL Western Semifinal next Sunday.

Boring ! minor league football, second stringers, people wasting their hard earned money on this Inferior product. Professional football ????

Clearly they have been working on their hurry up offence...

They better Hurry Up and get home for a lot of practice because Calgary will probably kick their ass.

8-10 - Just like I predicted. 5-5, 8-10 yep they're a juggernaught.

losing team, losing record, this club nothing to be proud of with this current direction. If they didn't have Winnipeg to kick around their won loss would be 6-12.

The Riders will lose and lose BIG in Calgary for 3 reasons:

1. Chamblain's challenge of stuffing Cornish will have him playing with a chip on his shoulder.

2.Nik Lewis is a Rider Killer

3. Rob Vanstone hs pointed out that the Stamps have not beat the Riders in the playoffs in years. The "Vanstone Curse" lives. Thanks Rob!

A 5 game losing streak to end the season after next week. The most aggrivating season in recent memory (including 2011). Is it wrong to expect even a shred of entertainment in that game? PATHETIC.

Does it get any worse then watching the CFL & then they are trying to market there product...Complete joke!

Cry me a f*@king river. its been a decent season with some better results than last year. we are heading the right direction. most of you know nothing about football but think you can do a better job. quit your Job at burger king and give it a go. cheer for q different team losers! GO RIDERS 4 LIFE

The Riders don't have a hope in hell of beating the Stamps next week. Calgary is one of the top teams in the CFL and the Riders are one of the worst if not the worst team right now in the entire CFL.. This team has definitely regressed over the season and we are lacking in talent and in the coaching department. Oline is downright horrible along with very little talent in the receiving dept. When Scott McHenry is your wideout who scares no one thats says it all. Cant wait for the season to end and I also will not be renewing my seasons I have now decided. Enough is enough for this guy.

Well people.Really what did you expect? It was a nothing game and you got nothing. Playoffs are where the intensity ramps up. BC wanted to win and it showed. The Riders wanted to play vanilla and try out different 3rd string players to give them live game experience.
Stop telling us you are not going to renew your season tickets. Just do it.
Go Riders

Let last night's offensive performance end any quarterback controversy or the free Willy movement. We have one QB, period.

A nothing game? Sure for the guys that played like it was a nothing game that's going to show up in their evaluation same with the Coaches.

Danny/Roy got you to the playoffs every year. They would be .500 so maybe those games some of them were nothing games what was the big deal?

I'm happy that next week the Riders get bounced out and then life simply moves on for those of us with lives.

Easily the dullest final week of the season in living memory. Every game was a "who cares" matchup and the intensity level reflected that. But that said, what can anyone do about it? It isn't like you can just cancel the last week of the season because everything is already settled. I went to Saturday's Bombers/Als game and still had a good time despite the fact that it was basically a preseason game.

In a million years I'll never fully understand the decision to sit the "starters" of a team that lost 3 in a row coming in. "but the other players need snaps". Yeah? So does #4 who looked average at best in the weeks leading up to this game. He needed reps. To make that simple 4 yard pass that he skipped twice in the last game.

I'd love to know your thoughts Rod on the riders decision to sit starters.

I guess all of this is moot if #4 is nursing an injury.

Go riders!

now that the regular season is over, the probability of us going 2-0 to get to the cup is higher than if we woulda have won say our last 3 to go 5-0, but with a minus .500 record, its still a longshot

How can a league be taken serious when only 3 teams have a winning record.

Should be a three team playoff. Edmonton, Saskatchewan and Toronto don't deserve to be there.

We backed into the playoffs. We backed into the Western Semi-final. Wwe have lost four in a row. Now this powerhouse is going to beat Calgary next week, go into BC and beat them and off to the Grey Cup. At the Grey Cup we will cap it off by winning the 100th Grey likely by beating Montreal. Yup that's what's going to happen.

There are some folk who still believe the world is flat! They live in an an enchanted land which borders at Alberta on one side and Manitoba on the other. They dream this stuff.

It is real nice to sit in 72 degree comfort, wearing a light shirt, and sipping a beer. in Novemeber. No 80km swirling wind around you. No sir. Yup Mr Hopson a covered facility is not what we need.

While ultimately the surge in young Rider fans has been great for the teams bottom line - it also means they get to weigh in with their deep insight of the CFL and the Riders in particular. What I can't figure out is why they waste their time when they despise the team and the league so much. Perhaps eventually they come around.

Overall I'm OK with the progress the team has made this year - when you think where they were. They have a shot at Calgary - it really comes down to Darian.

As in 2009we need to have the game of our lives against Calgary and if we can beat them we have as good of a shot as anybody else

Anonymous said...

This team is really not much better than last year. Except for Sheets they haven't improved the talent level. The O line hasn't come together even with the so called upgrades. 2nd and one yard is a crap shoot. It doesn't matter who is QB there is little time to find a receiver and all of the QBs hang on to the ball far too long. The game last night was a joke.

S.W.

The Lions won both games against the Bombers and not because the Bomber coach made a stupid call to hand them the game.

Anonymous said...

Is it that hard to cheer on the Riders people. A lot of bandwagoneers out there. Remover anything can happen in the playoffs.

Anonymous said...

Just because people don't think the Riders are going far in the playoffs doen't mean they are bandwagon jumpers. Sure I cheer for them and hope they beat Calgary but the last 4 games didn't look very good. Can they turn it on?

Anonymous said...

This team is sorely lacking in all areas. Mind blowing coaching decisions, lousy QB play from the average, at best starter to the less than adequate backups, OL and DL need help.
How do you rest starters on a team that backed into the playoffs on a long loosing streak, how do you punt the ball from your end zone with a punter that can't kick more than 36 yds. At least BC, Edm and Calgary have backup QB's that have potential. As usual, we have eternal optimism and that's it. Welcome to average is good enough.

JT looks to be a gunslinger. I like that. All Willy could do was tuck the ball and scramble,

Anonymous said...

I'm finished with this team too. Season ticket holder for 23 years and not excited one bit for game in Calgary this weekend.

Anonymous said...

Rouhhriders representing In the 2013 Grey Cup at Regina not looking good with this current direction of losing.

Anonymous said...

Wonder if Ottawa scouts were at the game looking at our 2 jokers at QB? They can have them both. With 3 straight losses no one should have had the "nite off". They need all the practice they can get. We are soooooooooo lucky we beat Winterpeg twice this season. Least they put up a good showing against Montreal, dont think they thought it was a meaningless game. The stars will have to be aligned perfect for us to beat Calgary.

I agree with Dustin.... cry me a %@#$*( river. The riders are in hte playoffs. What more do you want. You can't turn around a football team in one year. Some of you think you could do better. Some of you dont even have a sniff of what the game of football is all about. Its pretty easy ot judge from sitting up in the stands or sitting on a couch in your mother's basement with a grade 10 education.
