THIS PAST WEEK
Wednesday February 22nd Kootenay Ice 1 @ Regina Pats 2
The Pats opened up a 2-0 lead on goals by Jordan Weal and Lane Scheidl and held on for a 2- 1 win Wednesday night at the Brandt Centre. It was back to back wins against the Ice, with the Pats winning in Kootenay just four day earlier. Matt Hewitt was stellar in between the pipes for the Pats stopping 31 of 32 shots.
Friday February 24th. Moose Jaw Warriors 2 @ Regina Pats 8
The battle of highway 1 was a lopsided affair at least in terms of scoring as the Pats won 8-2 on home ice over the Warriors. Moose Jaw outplayed the pats in the 1st but Matt Hewitt made some key saves and some opportunistic scoring saw the Pats ahead 2-1 after 1. Then the floodgates opened as the pats scored 7 unanswered goals. Jordan Weal recorded four points and became the fourth player in the WHL, to hit the 100 point mark, this season. Chandler Stephenson scored twice and Martin Marincin picked up three assists in the win.
Saturday February 25th. Regina Pats 1 @ Brandon Wheat Kings 2 (SO)
It was a tight checking, playoff style hockey game Saturday night at Westman Place in Brandon. The Pats opened the scoring early in the 1st as Jack Rodewald scored his 5th of the season. The Wheat Kings answered back minutes later and then the two teams locked into a defensive battle. The rest of regulation and overtime solved nothing, as the two decided the game in a shootout. World Junior star Mark Stone was the only player to score in the shootout, as the Wheat Kings topped the Pats 2-1.
Record Watch:
Jordan Weal continued to climb the Regina Pats record books Friday night, as he collected his 100th point of the season. With that point he also moved into 5th all-time in Regina Pats scoring, seven points back of Len Nielsen for fourth and 47 points behind Dennis Sobchuck for third all-time.
Quote of the Week
“It was a real methodical game. No one wanted to give up scoring chances. It’s typical at this time of year. Points are really valuable. Teams don’t want to give up much.” - Pat Conacher comments after the Pats 2-1 shootout loss in Brandon on Saturday night. Courtesy of Greg Harder’s article from the Leader Post

rod where did all your links too other blogs or sites go?
Good question. I'll look into it.
Jeff Armstead has reinstalled. What a whiz!
Where are the MJ fans???
Just gonna say, I wouldn't say Brandon and the Pats are battling for the final playoff spot. Really, from 4th (or 3rd even), all these teams are battling for playoff position, The Pats can still finish higher in the standings, along with Brandon. The way some of these teams have been playing, the playoff picture COULD look completely different come two weeks from now.
I would say the Warrior fans are still at home trying to heal up their asses from that kicking the Pats layed on them lol. But your right about the playoff picture these next few weeks are going to be very exciting.
