RAIDERS 4 PATS 2

Shane Danyluk's goal at 5:23 of the second period was the game-winner as the Raiders knocked off the Pats 4-2 Wednesday night in Prince Albert, sending Regina to its third straight loss.

The Raiders built up a 2-0 lead after the first period and Danyluk's goal made it 3-0 in the second, spelling the end of the night for Pats starting goalie Matt Hewitt (11/14). The Raiders led 4-2 after two periods as Regina got tallies from Brandon Davidson and Morgan Klimchuk.

The teams kept it clean in the third period as the Raiders came away with a much-needed win. Adam Beukeboom finished the night in goal for Regina, stopping 17 of 18 shots. The Pats outshot the Raiders 42-32. Regina was 0/4 on the powerplay and 3/3 killing penalties.

Regina (26-20-5-1) visits Swift Current Friday night at 7:00 on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).

C'mon Pats, let's get out of this slump. Sounds like they played well and ran into a wall of a goalie. They'll win the next 2 games and get their groove back!

This team is in a funk. I hope they didn't peak in early January just before the trade deadline. Nobody has really mentioned they already bested last years point total which is great, but I am a little worried when they have lost to two of the weaker teams in less than a week and not taking advantage lately their home games, losing 4 of 5. Hope they can turn it around.

They'll be fine. The conference is still tight, they'll make the playoffs. I don't care if they finish 8th....I want to see the post season!

I think they'll be fine too, but the moves they made seems to have affected the confidence of the previous top four dmen before the trade deadline.....I get trying to make more offence from the back end when you don't have enough up front, but the d that have been here all year haven't responded well to the move as of yet and the offensive dman they picked up isn't playing stellar def just yet

For all of the Anonymous fans look at what is happening.Pats do not have a powerplay at all, and if you look at the last four games how many PP goals did they score?
Pats had 18 PP chances and they scored 2goals,WOW!
The lack of execuation on the PP and the lack of effort in playing 60 minutes in a a game could possable have the season end on a dark note.
The Pats have three coaches and if they can not get the team motivated and a PP to work lets rethink what needs to be done on the ice and behind the bench.
There are a lot of players who should reavaluate themselves and wonder if hockey is what they want to play and if so take accountability for there lack of effort.Pats you are a better team then you have been displaying so lets get going!

Well, at least our 1st round pick last year will make up for giving away this year's early picks-- in order to trade for this guy who's energized the PP and made our D the self-proclaimed "best in the league"! (Sarcasm on, btw.)

(If you have to look, I'll tell you. We didn't get a 1st round pick last year either. We're rebuilding without early picks!?!?!? Who does that?!?! Smoke and mirrors Chad Lang, that's who.)

This team won't be alright. They don't have the goaltending. Hewitt, Ketlo, Rowatt, Reekie. As you can see there are not great ones in that bunch. Hewitt has turned cold after the break. He is 19 and this is his first year as a starter. I don't see him using up a 20 yr old spot next season. The Pats don't put a premium on tending . The last time we picked a goalie high in the draft was Harding. Hence that's the last time we've had a high end tender. Hewitt is 12 out of the top 20 goalies and has been dropping steadily. You don't get "big" talented goalies in the 8th round or free listing.

The Pats pp is poor and I am not impressed with the way Dixon has constructed it. Listening to post game comments about not getting to the net makes you see; we are too small up front. The Pats needed scoring yet they could have landed Maxwell or Inglis and didn't. Inglis is scoring for Red Deer and they are now only 2 points out of a playoff spot. Maxwell will have 40 goals this season. Our 20 yr old Marantz won't come close to 20 goals. Makes you wonder about the vision of some people.
Conacher has done a good job but he wasn't given much to work with. With the lack of talent and poor team play, a playoff spot is still a long way off.

It's amazing how losing a few games changes the psychology of fans. Having said that, Lang will feel a TON of heat if this team falls to 8th and then gets hammered in the first round of playoffs.

Go Pats! Stay the course.

I'm still scratching my head about the moves they made at the trade deadline since they've been faltering since then. The clock it ticking...I hope they fix things soon.

They obviously generated a lot of offense last night (42 shots) and just ran into a hot goalie. It happens.

The teams current slump is unfortunate. It is better now than in the playoffs.

They just have to get back on track to get into the playoffs. The team needs to have other step up and start scoring to take the pressure and focus off of Jordan Weal.

GO PATS.
