THE MONDAY MORNING GOALIE

We're baaaaaaaaack!    Just one more day and we'll be back to sports on this blog.   Quite frankly the past several months have been a blur when you consider Rider season, Grey Cup, the Phoenix Sports Cage trip, the World Juniors and last week's wedding in Mexico.  A break was needed.

Don't ask me about sports right now because all I've been following lately has been soccer and bullfighting.  However that will change on today's Sports Cage on 620 CKRM.  For now, here's a photoblog of our trip:

We stayed in Nuevo Vallarta which is referred to as the "Beverly Hills of Puerto Vallarta".  Here is the view from our hotel room which was the best in the resort...
It has the finest beach I have ever experienced...

That is one of my favourite photos I've ever taken of my daughter...

How lucky were we!  We found a starfish on the shore.  Apparently that's rare...

There's always something going on at this resort.   On this night, it was Poker Night.

That's the reverse view from photo one...

Our kids spent one day swimming with the dolphins...

On another night, there was a Michael Jackson tribute.  Very entertaining..

Hey it's Mayor Larr!  Former Regina Mayor Larry Schneider was on our trip and is the Saskatchewan consulate to Mexico.  I want that job when Larry's done with it!  We really have had some good Mayors in Regina haven't we?

There's the set up for our wedding Wednesday...

Self-explanatory.  The minister was a real good one.  Quite frankly the event could not have gone better...

At the reception my cousin Robin gave the toast to the couple.   She did a fantastic job...

Here's the couple showing their Rider Pride!  How about this gift from the Poleys and the Aldags -- autographed jerseys!!!

If you're ever in P.V. and want to feel at home (or watch CFL, NHL or curling), stop by Chasers.  It's owned by former Reginan Andy Schmidt and he was nice enough to welcome our whole crew over to dance the night away...

The First Dance..
Once we got back to the resort, the staff did this to our room!

The boardwalk in Puerto Vallarta.  I'm glad we enjoyed it because it's unlikely we'll go back.  A few short hours after this picture was taken, 22 tourists were robbed a few blocks away...

It's too bad it's become to violent because it is one of the most beautful places in the world...

Loved this drugstore...
One of many soccer pitches which dot the landscape...
And one night the guitars came out....

And lastly, Canada's Team makes an appearance back at our resort.   Rider fans sure love their team.  You saw that /=S=/ logo everywhere down there.

***

Alright that's it!  Now it's back to reality.  Thanks for stopping by and we'll talk to you today on the radio at 5:00.

The place wasn't the same without you Roddy! We invented the "Mitchell Blair Drinking Game" while listening to the Sports Cage. I'll share the rules with you sometime.
Glad you're back same and sound. Congratulations and best wishes to you and Cinderelly. Hope to see you guys soon.

Oh boy, you're back. Stop the presses!

Scruffy did a great job in the Cage when you were away. He had everything fired up with the president of the Lingerie Football League and Remple. You'd have loved it.

It was nice to see that the Oscar for best documentary went to a film about the struggles of players on a high school football team in Memphis.

A Scruffy drinking game? Cool! Please LP, send us the rules. Have you created a "Frenzy" drinking game too?

If there is a Sportscage drinking game, I need to know the rules. It will make listening to the last hour of Remenda and his stupid sidekick somewhat tolerable.

When did Puerto Vallarta become a major haven for crime? I heard about those people on the ship getting robbed but didn't think that would be close to you. Going to Mexico is a real risk these days. Cuba and Jamaica seemingly are the places to be.

Kevin

PS: I'm guessing stories will be told this afternoon.

Congrats Rod, nice to see you went to Andy Schmidt's place 'Chasers" . Andy is a great guy, hope more Canadians get a chance to vist his place.

Thanks for sharing all the pics and stories ! Even this part that unfortunately is so true these days down there : "The boardwalk in Puerto Vallarta. I'm glad we enjoyed it because it's unlikely we'll go back. A few short hours after this picture was taken, 22 tourists were robbed a few blocks away..."

Any Frenzy drinking game would require 10% of your drink to be spilled on your tie or Rider sweatshirt. Tough to lose that much booze.

"The Mitchell Blair Drinking Game"
If you're brave, take a whole shot, but we found we were passed out by hour two. So a "big sip" was enough.

1) If Mitchell interrupts or speaks over the guest talking, take a drink.

2) If MB asks himself a question (Do I think the Pats will make the playoffs? I'm not sure. Do I hope they do? Absolutely), take a drink.

3) If MB asks the guest a question, then starts to answer it before they get the chance, take a drink.

4)Finish your drink if MB's answer is completely off to what the guest actually answers.

5) Take a large sip/shot each time MB makes a "dramatic" pause mid-sentence. (This must be from the old Newstalk days b/c they all do it over there).

6) If Rod has to remind MB it's his show, take a drink.

7) If Rod asks MB if he can talk and/or finish his comment, take a drink.

Play responsibly Cagers!

1. Glad to hear that you didn't get roofied on this trip!

2. I doubt that Mexico is significantly more dangerous for tourists (that are staying out of trouble) than any other country.

3. No, we shouldn't sign Fred Reid.
