(Edmonton) Edmonton Eskimo Special Teams Coordinator Rick Campbell has resigned, the club announced today.
Campbell stepped down to accept a job with the Calgary Stampeders. A veteran of 13 CFL seasons, Campbell spent 10 years with Edmonton (1999-2008, 2011) and won two Grey Cup during that span.
He joined Winnipeg in 2009 as the Defensive Backs Coach and Special Teams Coordinator. He joined Calgary in 2010 as their Running Backs Coach. He returned to Edmonton for the 2011 as Assistant Head Coach and Special Teams Coordinator.
Eskimo Head Coach Kavis Reed says, "Although the timing isn't great from our perspective, we understand that this opportunity helps put Rick a step closer to realizing his ambition to one day become a head coach in the CFL."
The Eskimos have not yet named a replacement for Campbell.
