SUNDAY SPORTS

Former Giants receiver Plaxico Burress is headed back to New York -- but this time to the Jets. The 33-year-old caught the game-winning TD in the Giants' 2008 Super Bowl victory, before his career derailed after he accidentally shot himself in a New York nightclub. He was recently released from prison after serving 20 months on a gun charge.

A big day at Rogers Centre for former Blue Jays star Roberto
Alomar. The recently inducted Hall of Famer will have his No. 12 jersey retired prior to Toronto's series finale against the Texas Rangers. He is the first member in the 35-year history of the franchise to have his number taken out of circulation.

With baseball's trade deadline only hours away, the Atlanta
Braves pulled the trigger on a deal to add some speed. The Braves acquired outfielder Michael Bourn from the Houston Astros in a five-player swap. The 28-year-old Bourn, a two-time Gold Glove winner, is hitting .303 and leads the majors with 39 stolen bases.

Yani Tseng won her fifth major title after capturing the Women's British Open by four strokes. The top-ranked Taiwanese shot a 69 to total 16-under 272. Charlottetown's Lorie Kane closed with a 71 and tied for 43rd.

Why were several defensive players sending tweets to former defensive coordinator Etch last night after the loss ? Has the locker room been lost after 5 games ?

DD NEVER looks off a receiver and taps his hand on the ball TWICE before throwing when he is in the pocket = terrible fundamental QB skills.

He needs help, that is why I really liked Crandell with us. We need a QB coach

DD desperately needs a QB coach I agree. With Stevie Baggs, John Chick and Rey Williams gone there is problem. How many drives would they have snuffed out with those guys in the D? With Fantuz and Bagg gone from the receiving corps how many of our's snuffed out? Seriously when you lose five quality guys not mention Eddie Davis and Lloyd it's a problem. The problem has not been solved by the Taman/Miller GM team. They had time to work some magic and have not. Clearly we lack a real talent evaluator yet Womack leaves because of Miller? Wrong guy sent packing. Practice roster talent is sub-standard because we haven't got the required connections anymore. I'm sure Taman and his buddy Smith will keep scouring for Winnipeg cast offs.

The Saskatoon band the Sheepdogs may get on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine - we will know tomorrow. They currently have a monster hit on the radio called "I Don't Know". Yet, at yesterday's home game the PA is still pumping out the same old tired tunes from years gone by. Why not give priority to new hit music from Saskatchewan bands during Rider home games? Very perplexing.

No messing around with Tillman, he wants the 2011 Grey Cup!!! Whitlock kept fumbling and he's toast :
"Eskimos release RB Whitlock "

Esks cut Arkee Whitlock. Can't catch. Fumbles. Too much depth around him. Message sent to others. Turnovers not tolerated by Tillman, Kavis or Crandell.

You two are right. If DD was any good, he'd CATCH the ball for his receivers too. It's all his fault! (sarcasm off)

If Clermont catches that should've been TD and Getzlaf catches that long pass in the 4th, we win.

But no, you have to find a way to blame this on DD.

Losers!

Yeah because you can replace those guys, no problem.

Rider Nation ... Lots of passion. No intelligence.

Nice trade by Atlanta. That will give them a ton of speed. Too bad they will fizzle in the first round like they do every year.

Rey Williams replaced Lloyd (I'm assuming Maurice Lloyd) and Barrin Simpson replaced Williams so I don't think that areas a problem. Fans really need to listen to Dominquez because he gives a perspective that maybe 1/4 of a percent of us really understand being a former player. The only really problem with the loss is the fact that we started 0-3. Did everybody think we were going to win that last 14 after Montreal.
