Amongst today's NHL trade deadline deals, the L.A. Kings have acquired F Dustin Penner from the Oilers for D Colten Teubert, a 2011 1st round draft pick and a 2012 draft pick."It's pretty crazy," Teubert told 620 CKRM on Monday. "It's kind of a whirlwind right now because I wasn't expecting it but it's part of the hockey business. To get the opportunity to go to Edmonton, I'm really excited. I'm kind of speechless. I don't understand why Ebs doesn't want to get rid of me. I think he had something to do with this because he misses me. I don't know. I'm just really excited about my future with the Oilers."
Teubert said he found out about the deal while on a day off.
"It was kind of weird," Teubert reported. "I was playing video games with a bunch of the guys and we had our computers open and it came up on the TSN ticker. I was like 'did I just get traded?'. It was kind of confusing."
Oddly enough, Teubert still hasn't heard any word from the Oilers since the deal.
"I honestly haven't talked to them. My phone is blowing up right now. I'm just waiting to talk to GM Steve Tambellini to see what happens from here. I'm really excited but I'm speechless because I haven't been traded in my career. I'm just looking forward to an opportunity with the Oilers and the (AHL's) Barons."

Horrible blog. Amber Holland won? It's hard to tell on this site.
I'm now stupider for having read your comment. If you don't like Roddy's blog then get the hell off it. He's mentioned Amber Holland numerous times over the last couple days.
Just scroll down and read about Amber!
LMAO that says Edmonton raped LA on these one. Not a fat chance in hell I have a buddy who works within the LA kings organization and guess what they haven't been happy with Colton ever since they drafted him and he literally fall of the radar this year as the #4 or #5 D depending on how he played that particular night.
A survey you ran a while ago showed that Regina is an Oiler town. This should reinforce it.
What does Annon. #1 comment have to do with Eberle & Teubert?
Glad to see that trade. Hopefully Teubert will get to play with the Oilers. Anyone have any idea how he's doing this year?

Re: Horrible blog.
This blog was one of the FIRST places to report on Team Holland's victory last night.
You are a jackass.
To Anon: Of course you have a buddy that works within LA's organization. In fact I have a buddy who works within the Leafs organization, and he tells me that Burke and the Toronto media really do get along.
Good trade for both teams LA has a bunch of good young D and Edmonton needed to dump some money along with getting a good yound D.
Tuebert has only played 35 games so far in the AHL.
He will add to a young club and has an outside chance making it next year.
Long term he has the essentials to be a 3 / 4 defenseman at the NHL level.
Good deal all around.
Not even 2 minutes after Holland won the championship, I logged on here and Rod had already posted the win, so take a hike you jerkoff.
This blog sucks. My kid's RCBA team won a playoff game this weekend. Not one mention on here!
/sarcasm
The Kings gave up on Tuebert because they were seeing the same bad habits the fans used to see out of him night after night in Regina. The good news is that if he's got a chance to crack any NHL lineup, it's likely Edmonton.
To the first anon;
I watched the television broadcast but I was all over the internet right after Amber won because I wanted to see it in print. Rod's blog was the first place I read the news. Then it was in the 2 Edmonton newspapers followed by Calgary's two dailies. Winnipegs papers also had it after a bit.
If you want to bitch about something, direct your compaint to the Leader Post. I'm sure it was the last major newspaper in the country to post the news on their blog.
I checked the LP at 2 am. Still nothing.
I can NOT even believe that the Oilers couldn't do better than a guy who was better as 16 year old than he was at 19. It's incomprehensible.
You guys need to get a life. The name calling has you at the level of Anon #1.
RELAX Oiler fans. The Oilers receive a 1st rounder and another pick in 2012 as well as Teubert. He likely was a "throw in" on the deal as LA was not thrilled with him from what I've heard. So look at it as them getting some draft picks for Penner. IF Teuby can play as a future 6th guy down the road (which is highly unlikely), it's a small bonus. The picks are what they wanted.

I like the guy but Tuebert ain't making the NHL. He is like Chad Allan - A young promising junior hockey layer whose peaked at 18 years old. It happens.
3 years from now he will be manning the point for the Lumsden Monarchs - you book it!
Quoted for so much awesomeness because this is the truth: *Steve Tambellini in response to the Edmonton Sun's Terry Jones asking a question about Colten Teubert's struggles in the AHL. Jones then informed Tambellini that Teubert has been a healthy scratch for the Manchester Monarchs. Tambellini was stunned*. http://www.coppernblue.com/2011/2/28/2021331/who-said-hes-struggling#comments
Somewhere tonight Rod is pitching a huge tent because Chad's Bonnyville Pontiacs are off to the second round after sweeping the Sherwood Park Crusader.
It's me being a smart ass Rod.
you are all ****** in the head
Teubert was a toss-in by the Kings. Make no mistake, the Oilers held the cards in this deal and LA knows it's a make or break year and Penner will help them up front with his size.
Edmonton is/was still loading up on draft picks and will use those when the time is right to do some dealing for a proven veteran. Getting rid of Penner will also provide a little more cap room to extend contracts or bring someone in who fits the high flying style the Oilers are turning into.
I believe it was Panthers GM Dale Tallon who said it takes 3 or 4 years of developing draft picks. Once everything comes together with "the kids", a GM's job is to evaluate where the missing pieces are and get them. Sounds like the Oilers are about a year or maybe two away from being in that position. Stockpiling draft picks is never a bad thing...especially when you are in 30th and can free up some cap space to round up a veteran or two that fits in with the quickness of Hall/Eberle/Omark, etc.
I can't help but think the Oilers won that trade. Anytime you can get LAZY out of your locker room you're making progress.
Fair trade for both teams, Penner was going to sign with the Anaheim or LA when is contract is up because he is married to Zednik ex. Not too also mention that he owns a home in LA. Teubert would have never made the Kings with Johnson, Doughty, Forbort,Hickey,Voynov, Martinez, and etc all ahead of him on the depth chart.
