CALGARY -- The Regina Pats have released 20-year old defenceman Jesse Dudas.

Dudas was acquired at the WHL trade deadline from the Swift Current Broncos for a 4th round pick in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft,

The release of Dudas leaves the Pats with two 20-year olds: Victor Bartley and Matt Robertson.

From the Broncos perspective, that 4th round pick isn't looking so bad now!

There must have been issues in the locker room or with mgmt on this one. Jesse has played quite well since we acquired him.

This is now the 2nd 20 year old we released this year who was playing well.

We gave up a 4th rnd pick for DePape last year and let him go away for nothing..now another 4th rnd pick for nothing....we must not like early rnd picks...what a disaster....get this season over already....everybody who knows anything knows what has to be done.

Can't say I'm surprised. Don't know what was going on but was watching him the last couple games and seen that nobody talked to him and was never involved in pre-game huddle. Too bad, the guy has talent but seems to be turning into a head case.

What is this? You get rid of someone who played betetr than teubert did? Might as well kiss ANY chance of making the playoffs now goodbye!

SAJ said...

I hope people arent serious. It would be extremely retarded to release teubert considering his age and value to the team and his market value should it come to that.

This season is a write off, the train wreck is piling up more and more each day

I'm sure there will be a statement with a nice spin about not being a fit or something like that. Truth is there are more than this kid as problems on the team. That includes other players, coaches, scouts, and management.

This season we released Elder, Hill and Depape early, then Doucet was released because of apparent issues with the coaching staff. We didn't get a bag of pucks for any of them. Then Gabriel wouldn't come here, then Czibere was sat out for problems with the coaches, then Robertson was sat out for discipline issues, Tuebert was then sat out for issues, other players were sat out to get "messages" across, now releasing a top four d-man? It says to me there are deeper problems.

Coaches put it on the players, players put it on the fat guy eating popcorn, management puts it on bad breaks and officiating, fans put it on all of the above! The bottom line is that it is just another typical season in Patland....Oh Strummer please come back and save us from ourselves.

Strummer???? Lets dip back a little further down Memory Lane. JEEBUS!!!
What is the Dudas story Rod. Did he blow up after the game?? Did he find the pictures of Plasters "women" and start circulating them. Details!!!!

Of the deals made over the past 3 years, the only deal where the Pats have come out for the better are the trades with Kamloops last season for Bartley and the deal this season with Vancouver for Czibere. I would be darned if Czibere is not captain of the Pats next season. Leadership is DESPERATELY needed on this team and Czibere is a shoo-in to be leader on this team.

But what are some examples of former Pats who have been traded and have thrived in their present surroundings?

1. Craig Schira. Captain of the Giants and top-level d-man in the Dub. We got Kraus and Valach in return -- both are now out of the league.

2. Nick Ross. In fairness, we got Bartley, who is having a career year with us. Ross is enjoying success after being dealt to Vancouver before the deadline.

3. Duval to Calgary for Reich. Duval is now enjoying a career year with Kelowna after being dealt there by MJ.

4. Jeff Bosch. He will be a top goalie with MJ. What we got in return, however, has been very little production in Prokop. This trade is still a toss up, but right now, it looks like MJ came out the winner.

5. Justin Bernhardt. After being dealt to PA from Kelowna, he is one of the league's leading scorers. We got Kirt Hill, who is now enjoying a career year in the USHL and Ofukany played out his last year by being dealt by the Pats to RD.

It seems to be a trend whereby the Pats are releasing players because for some reason or another, the players can't fit into the mold. While I recognize that these are kids we are dealing with, sometimes a little give and take can go a long way. It seems however, some "problem" players have enjoyed success elsewhere (Doucet, Elder, Hill, Berhardt, et al.). It seems to me, that perhaps Brent Parker may wish to consider replacing himself, providing full autonomy to the new GM in order to run this team. It seems to work well in Brandon and Saskatoon (wow, what a turnaround it has been for them).

The fans deserve a lot better than what they are receiving for their money and players like Ebs, Czibere and Rowat and a few others deserve a lot better for the amount they contribute to this team. Parker owes it to his players to turn this ship in time for training camp next season. My biggest fear is we are heading down the path of Prince George -- habitual losers and a place few players want to go to.

You know I have been thinking about this whole player's problem and maybe just hear me out it's not the players it's the coaches.Doucet,Czibere, Robertson, Turbert, now Dudas something is not right here. That me put it this way if me a girl break up it could be something she did. And if me a girl two break up again it could be her and maybe even girl three. But when it can't be girl four and five's fault maybe it's me .So I think that Dale Perk and Parker should take a long hard look in the mirror. Just saying I could be way off base.

Great post right there above. I couldn't agree more.

Fortunately this pathetic season will soon be over, and we will likely get a higher draft pick!!!!!

If this were to last much longer one would have to wonder who would be next? I am pretty certain there would be more wanting out. I wonder how happy Ketlo is, going from a rated goalie to someone who is now almost off the board.

You hear that Dudas may have been a cancer but maybe, just maybe, there are other diseases in that dressing room. Maybe he was told they would be a big time contender then he got here and found out what they really had going on.

If anyone thinks the only problem on the ice was Dudas you are as about as blind as most of my immediate family without glasses...
However Harder says the reason he(Dudas) was released was because he was not meshing with the team, and he had selfish antics... However what about Douce, the other released player during the year. How about the other players not bringing their A games for the last few months... Are you going to tell me that Douce, Depape, Elder and Hill were good players to release or trade?
The problem with the Pats started when Douce left and had a disagreement with Management and the coaches... I say hmm did he and the other mature(older) players on this team realize that Brent was cheap when he(Brent) hired a coach that was clearly not ready for this league?
Now I was on board when Brent hired Derkatch, because I felt fans should give him a chance... I and the other fans I don't think could have ever realized that this team was going to tank like this.
However he(Dale) and Perkins have had their chances and at the end of the year this team needs to clean house...
There is no one out there that can honestly say that these players have gave 110% of themselves. Nor have the players played their best for these coaches and Managment.
I would like to ask a question name a player out there that who would want to mesh with this team(disgrace)? The way it(this team) has been playing over the last few months...
Unfortunately it is apparent to most that these players have zero respect for Management, Coaches, Fans, Each Other and Themselves...
Either that or they just do not have the skill nor the ability to compete with other teams that are in the dub, because the only team that they can beat would be the Moose Jaw Warriors... Woo Hoo Now that there is an accomplishment that a team should be proud of...
I mean Parker, you the coaches and the scouting have turned this once proud franchise into the biggest Circus in Town... The Shriners would absolutely Love to have a Circus this big... Thanks Brent and just think a year ago I was calling you Buddha, me thinks I should have been calling you George W. and the US Congress, because they are about the only other ones that could create a mess this big...
Personally I for one am at a loss at how a team can completely fold their tents and choke as much as this team has over the last few months... Hay CDSC, I remember earlier in the year you stated how good a job this scouting tandem was? Can I ask you, would like to recind on that statment? Because I for one think they sure look like a stature of brilliance... LOL
Time to clean house top down...

The problem is that they don't have the talent to compete with the good teams, let alone the elite teams in the dub. In my opinion, that boils down to poor management and bad scouting.

I think parker has to go. He has been here what 10 - 15 years? He can not get the job done. I wonder what Curtis Hunt could have done with this bunch? We just came off of 40 win seasons and now we are not going to make the playoffs.

Someone has to be the goat here. Maybe its Brent maybe is Derk.
I would rather lose in the first round of the playoffs then not to make them at all. The team looked better during the 12 win season then they do now.

Maybe Parker can have his dream to move his team and we can get a new franchise in the city. He gets what he wants and we get no parker!

News flash- Brent Parker brings in revenue and make the Parkers $$. I am beginning to get the impression they don't care if the team wins or losses on the ice. Just sell seasons tix and get butts in seats. If Russ is making dough all is good. No worries here guys-the corporate support and season ticket base will be the same next year.

With respect to the release of Jesse Dudas, I hope both Jesse and the Pats can straighten their ways.

It's been quite apparent from watching him play his career in the Dub, that Jesse certainly can play the game. He is a strong and talented player, one who can dominate hockey games. Therefore, there must be a lot more than meets the eye to this most recent dismissal. Personal situations or conditions usually play heavily in sudden decisions like this. Hopefully this isn't the case, but if it is, I sure hope he can get things resolved or get help.

The Dudas release leaves a huge hole on the Pat's blueline for the rest of the campaign. Others will get increased minutes to fill this void, but the experience will be sorely missed. The hill has become a lot steeper for the boys...sigh!

The best of luck goes out to Jesse Dudas for what his future holds.

"Maybe Parker can have his dream to move his team and we can get a new franchise in the city. He gets what he wants and we get no parker!"

Be careful what you wish for. If you lose your franchise, there are alot of cities (Victoria and Winnipeg etc) that are dying to get a team and you could find yourself on the outside looking in!

Classy post PBB. That makes one.

Seriously, all you people talking about dropping season tickets and cleaning house because of this guys release are nuts.

Out of respect for the young man, I don't think we should be speculating as to why he was released.

But he's been on what? 4 teams in his career in the Dub? 3 in the last year basically.

There's something going on there and hopefully he can find the answer to his problems.

I'll bet the fans of Swift Current are enjoying a good laugh -- at our expense.
