CRANBROOK -- The Regina Pats went oh-fer on this three game road trip following a 5-3 loss to the hometown Kootenay Ice Friday night. And with the Edmonton Oil Kings picking up a point from an overtime loss, the Pats have dropped six points out of a playoff spot with seven games left to play.
Kootenay jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Drew Czerwonka (even strength) and Andrew Bailey (shorthanded). That was the end of the line for Pats starting goalie Linden Rowat who allowed two goals on seven shots 9:57 into the game. It's hard to blame him, as the Pats were being outshot 7-1 at the time.
Regina's Colten Teubert scored his 11th of the season 1:27 into the second period on the powerplay making it a 2-1 game, but a couple of powerplay goals by Kootenay's Kevin King and Tylan Stephans made it 4-1 for the Ice after forty minutes.
The Pats had a great third period and Neal Prokop made it 4-2 with his fourth of the year at 5:33, however Andrew Bailey restored the three goal lead with a breakaway goal beating Regina goalie Damien Ketlo to make it 5-2. Thirty-two seconds after that, Matt Delahey netted his sixth of the season for Regina to make it 5-3 but the Pats couldn't get any closer.
Game over. Kootenay 5 Regina 3
STATS: The Ice outshot the Pats 35-23 in the game and went 2/4 on the powerplay. The Pats were 1/6 on their own man advantage.
Molson 3-Stars: 1) Bailey 2) Antilla 3) King. Hardest Working Pat: Damien Ketlo.
The Pats' next game is Sunday night at 6:00pm against the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the Regina Brandt Centre on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pats Pregame Show at 5:35pm).
Time's running out but I have written them off yet. They worked hard in this one and it was an entertaining game. It's not time to give up yet.

It's okay to accept defeat...it's how you deal with it in the end that makes you a better team!
see you on sunday.
It's not ok to accept defeat right now but pass me what you are smoking Caesar.
I am sick of losing-when are the fans going to get a winner-enough is enough....There better be drastic changes on this club at the end of the year-or your going to lose 3 season ticket holders and i am sure more as i can tell you I am not the only season ticket holders that are upset.
Rod, i hate to say it but i think the fat lady is starting to sing. Tough when you are chasing one team let alone two.
Based on that statement Caesar, the Pats should be a much better team already.
When you sign up the Pats for the "spiritual cleansing," send her down the highway to MJ. Maybe we can get a special deal, TWO FOR ONE!
Pat
MJ
I agree now, that a total house cleaning must be done, as your interview with P-Loub went Rod, by the way, you guys are both class acts. I cant explain it, .....is it coaching...? Scouting......? Management....? It seems no one wants to come and play here, or if they do, they become a disease in the dressing room....ie: Dudas. The Pats....the Montreal Canadiens of the dub ( besides the 26 stanley/memorial cups), as in the oldest franchise out there, and yet, no one wants to be a part of it. I hate to look in retrospect, but jeez, we had some real punishing teams in the early 80's, and Dale, reflect too, we were tough, we had 3 - 4 50 goal men. Thats the Pats i love to remember, and we kicked some ass back then physically and on the scoreboard. Id love to see that style come back, where we can protect our goal scorers and smaller guys, like Dale was. Last night i heard Eb's got speared, yet know one went after the Icemen, that was guilty of it, I know if that was Dale, 25 years ago, Grimson would have went after the guy, then after his family, and probably the guys parent's neighbours. Is it time to start thinking about next year? Yes, it is, but its hard to rebuild with 1 draft pick in the 4th round. Its time to start trading guys, everyones expendable except Eb's Weal and Mitchell. As for the brass, im speechless. Its going to be a long summer again in Patville. And to the " anon" blogger that got into my facebook account to reveal full names, and school n such....Gotcha :) Too bad ya cant *67 an ip address like ya can the phone :) Cheers
Unfortunatley, I have to say that my sentiments last night were obviously over the top Rod, and for that I apologize.
I realized that after I sent them, and thank you Rod for not publishing them...
However Rod when is this organization going to prove to the fans. Us hockey fanatics that pay hard earned $ deserve better.
I know that they probably think we are just fat popcorn eating idiots, but we do know that making it past the first round of the playoffs once in fifteen years is not even mediocre.
Tell us if this team just doesn't have enough talent that they have a hard time competing with any other team in this league other than Moose Jaw.
Then it has to be scouting and Ripplinger and his crew need to pay the price.
Personally, I don't buy that it is only scouting.
Unfortunately most people I talk to feel that Dale and Perk obviously have zero respect from these players, and cannot make these guys compete for them.
I do think that Dale and Perk are probably great guys and probably are excellent hockey minds? I don't know for sure but they were obviously not ready for this league...
Either way the onus falls on Mr Parker for assembling this mess...
For this I feel that some fans feel that There needs to be changes from the top down. We the paying public need to be shown respect. We fans deserve better and we need to be shown that this less than mediocre BS is not going to be tollerated.
The Parker family needs to be willing to do whatever it takes to produce a winner. Even if it means giving up control Brent. Either that or they need to sell this team, bid for an expansion to one of the markets out west where they were talking about moving to if there could not have been a deal reached between Evraz and the Pats.
I am sorry I also don't buy these are just kids as Mr Remple and his sidekick said on Pats TV. I ask you Kelly, and whomever else out there that say well they are only kids, I am not going to throw anyone under a bus.
If you go to McDonalds and buy a burger and fries and you give the clerk a $50.00 bill and he/she gives you a dollar back for change would you say something? Or would you say well he/she is only 15 to 18 years old so that is okay that is just a kid. What if it happens on a continuous bassis? Then what would you say if you did say something and then the clerk went into the local newspapers and said I don't care what these guys are just fat guys eating hamburgers. So who cares? Be honest now and give the truthful answer...
I think you would feel like you were being robbed, and I know this is how I feel and I am sure most fans feel the same way.
Believe me Dale wants to play that way.

I am a season ticket holder and will continue to be a season ticket holder for MANY years!!
I do not expect the Pats to be in
1st place each year.
Anonymous who is saying that they expect the Pats team to be in first place every year What fans expect at least the fans that I talk too would like a competitive team that plays hard and competes every night and the odd game they actually win.
If you look at the record of this team from December till now, you find a team that has folded like a cheap tent. You see players that are not giving it 110%, and as a season ticket holder you feel that you deserve better than what has been offered in Parker's tenure.
I am not smoking anything. Let's just be real here. I have been a perennial fan of the oilers...so I accept defeat. I am on the list to buy season tickets, even though I will only make 10 games max.
So when I by tickets to this, it's just that, I cheer, support, shit on when they need to be shit on, etc. But when you are just out, your life goes on.
If I do your printing and your printing sucks...do you call for a change in employees!?? Do you call for my head on a platter saying that you want this company to get a new owner!???
Not bloody likely!
So you deal with it and move on in your life.
WAAAAY too many people are quick to say we should get rid of this guy and get rid of that guy.
Here's something. Put your hockey smarts on a resume and apply for the coaching job!?? OR buy the team if you got the cash! Then we could call for your head when we lose two in a row!!!
Just deal with it and move on.
Critique all you want (which I have done my share) and argue all you want! But never have I asked to FIRE someone or trade someone.
How about Parker just takes his team to somewhere else!?? Would half the bloggers be happy then!? Probably not.
Cheers
First of Caesar Parker should in the hell could try and take his team something else but guess what not going to happen. As you say my friend a new deal is in place and the league members just won`t let that happen not like is was ever going to happen in the first place. And if think it was then you must being smoking something.
Well Ed, I guess it probably wouldn't be done (if that is even possible - I am pretty sure he can do whatever the heck he wants with the team - but that's another debate), I was just using it as an example!
Caeaar and any others out there that accept this kind of crap and say well life goes on... That is just plain sad and disturbing to say the least.
Let me ask you if you go to a place of business to buy things and over and over again their products break and are garbage do you say well that's okay, I will just continue to absorb this kind of crap. Why because I am dedicated and I am used to losing and the stuff I buy breaking. Not to mention I deserve to purchase less than mediocre garbage. Personally, I think not and if you do and you are honestly that kind of consumer all I can say is WOW... Sorry the majority is not that kind of consumer. People usually feel like they deserve better for their money. How about the Pats they have had more than fifteen years of not making it past the first round of the playoffs. I think that is less than mediocre, and why? because I at least feel that people deserve better for their $ than what has been achieved. The Pats as far as I am concerned for the last fifteen years have been less than mediocre.
Like it or not people sports is a business, and if you don't succeed people are more than likely not going to support the crap you are trying to peddle.
People over the years here in Regina have at least in my opinion been more than fair. They have supported this garbage and have supported a sub par product, I feel people now have simply had it...
Please people out there that think this is okay. Can you tell me of another franchise in sport that has had fifteen sub par years where this organization has only made it past the first round of the playoffs once in fifteen years. Yet this team has continued to be successful and has continued to receive above average attendance? Whats the matter can't think of any... That is because it doesn't happen except here in SK with the Riders and the Pats...
I don't care if a team has had success in the regular season... Franchises are remembered for Championships and success in the playoffs. Personally, if someone said as a fan you can have 40+ win seasons every year. However when you get into the playoffs the team is going to lose in the first round. I might be in the minority, but personally I would say well as awesome as that sounds how about you take that 40+ win season roll it into a nice tight ball and shove it where the sun don't shine...
Yes Caesar he can do whatever the heck he wants to with the team as long as it's approved by the Board Members.
