I think these kind of miss the mark....The Reebok logo on the sleeves is almost the same size as the Rider logo. I'm going to have to see one of these in person before I make a final judgement but I likely won't buy one.
Show a picture of one with the full number and stitched nameplate. They look 10x better then.
In reality I don't know what I expected when the Riders said "Retro" but I don't see big differences here...the logo and stripe color..I thought maybe the green would be lighter. I just got a new Narco jersey for Christmas so wasn't going to buy one anyways...not sure if these will be a hot seller amongst the old guard or not.Dustin
Yeah, what's the typeface on the number and nameplate?
I like them and think they look a lot better with the numbering and letteringPhil
I'm not impressed.... I was going to run out and buy one but it's really not that much of a difference than my current jersey.Bring back the black jerseys!
The retro look is just fine!! Now if the Bombers plan to sport the gold 3rd jerseys on Sunday, I'd be very happy to see that!Would bring a great touch of class to the ol' rivalry which I think is kinda buried these days when compared to the Esks & Stamps or UGH the Ti-Cats & Arrr(awful)gos!C'mon down for Banjo Bowl IV on the 9th!
I hate the black jersey and was really looking forward to these. Until I seen them. Leave it to Reebok to screw up a classic jersey.
i don't get it. why would they think it would be a good idea to build up and build up to this, just to let us down? how is that good marketing? smooth moves.
Lets be honest, rider jersey's haven't changed alot over the years so expecting something to blow yer hair back was unrealistic. I think with the retro helemts and white pants they could look good. I'm not going to pass judgement till I see the whole package on Sunday.I do agree that the logo is too small though.Curtis L.
these are just terrible. The black jersey is the best third jersey in the league already...there was no need for these retros in my opinion....that era is gone..and really was it that glorious that we need to commemorate it in the first place? We won how many GC's wearing those jerseys? Sanchu.
These do nothing at all for me. I believe the first jerseys were red? Not that it would fly in Greenville (Saskatchewan). I personally liked the black jerseys. I am sure most people don't like them because of the ties to Shivers/Barrett. Off the topic, Remember 6-7 years ago? Those two could do no wrong. How long until the "faithful" will want to have the Tillman/Austin regime hung up? And I am a fan of our current duo, but it will happen. It always does in Riderville.Tricky B
I think the old logo looks good...brings back memories, my first cfl game @ age 7 in 73, George Reed and the lil general, also a kick returner by the name of Tommy Reamon, anyone remember that name? Question Roddy, Pat games on 106.9 fm this year, will this be you on there? Please say it wont be Micheal Ball :), my little radio has a hard time pickin up ole ckrm in the dome. I hope the fm...will be you. Sad to see the news about Stoesz today, he wont be back by the sounds of it.Sounds like the Pats are havin a good camp, anticipation grows for an awesome year. Happy Bloggin.
I was thinking about getting one, until I saw them. Just goes to show you how lazy this was done. The Riders really messed this one up. Hopefully it looks good on the players at least.I would have loved these jerseys if they had not been called retro's, they are a nice 3rd Jersey but a crappy retro.
i was expecting the same color jersey that George Reed is wearing on the rider's website - the striping doesn't seem anywhere close either. i hope there's more to be revealed for sunday's game - any idea if the helmets are retro, or semi-retro?dale
When the Rider colour scheme and jersey haven't changed that much in decades, what did people expect? Go way back to Yellow and Purple? I love these for what they are. Sure, I enjoyed the black jerseys as well and wish they weren't gone but I like these too. Put the old style numbers on the shoulders, front and back and these will look awesome. Yes, the S logo could have been bigger for my taste but that is just nit-picking.
Quite some time ago I had heard that the retro jerseys would come back this year for the LD game. After seeing the new jersey... very disappointed. The logo is way too small. The layout is basically the same as the old ones from the past, just updated. I'm just curious to see if the numbering/lettering will be solid white like the ones from back in the day. I also liked the black jerseys as well.
wish it would have been from an actual year ex circa 76, i bought one, but what is really disappointing they are wearing their silver pants with that funky 90s triangular striping?? what the hell is retro about that...unfortunatley for the Riders it looks bush league...if you are going to go retro do it right
I agree with most of the comments. The retro jersey from Reed/Lancaster would have been great. These things are a very poor effort and I won't be buying one. I don't know why I am surprised. The Rider marketing department is horrible and any success they have is purely by accident. Rick...
Finally! I love it. I've wanted a Rider throwback jersey for years now. But what's up with the twonie sized patches? Those logos should be 3 times bigger. I guess Hopson decided to cheap out and use this year's pants. Will they be wearing the old style helmets with the sweet skunk stripe?
They look much better with the numbers. I'll have to make my final judgement on Sunday.I wish the logo was larger.
Something must be wrong as the retro jersy looks better on Jim Hopson on the cover of the Leader-Post than it does in the picture in your blog. You need something better than a flat table to serve as te model!Larry S.
This poor imitation reminds me of the "vintage" Buffalo Sabres jersey from last year. They bring back the classic logo, then for some crazy reason place numbers on the top left corner and wear their current "buffaslug" pants and helmet with the jersey. The jerseys are going to look bad with the silver "skunk stripe pants". Too bad they dropped the ball. Tim Thompson
